Questions about setting up an interactive chat for TA

I'm not a programmer but I've made sites for businesses with basic forms/html/css etc.

I like FL's collab but it turns me off for many reasons at the same time.
I have better than avg photoshop/graphic skills and want to make a chat room with a cool interface that is organized and divided into seperate rooms.

Like one for synths, another for fx, patches, song exchange, etc.

And seperate rooms for seperate DAWs.
I think it would be awesome.

So my questions (for anyone who has a clue)
Could this be done on dreamweaver?

Would tranceaddict have any problems with it?

And I just want to make sure theres nothing out there now. If so maybe someone could direct me there because as live as these forums are it'd be cool to see something more interactive and quicker to use.

it was setup something like that a year ago or abit more on mIRC but they kept changing the name/room so I gave up. i have no idea whether its open or if it was many attending, there was a thread here with how to connect and register name etc. try search for it.

OK because I do remember a chatroom for tranceaddict but it wasn't specific to the site.
It had a bunch of rooms dedicated to other places, one for serioussounds I remember and the rest I don't remember.

If thats the one its terrible imo. The interface is boring and plain, its messy and unorganized, and I think this place should have something a lot better.

Anyone else with input please let me know.

Yes, absolutely.

Its looking like theres really nothing out there atm.
I think the chatrooms fall off after a while because the developers just ignored fundamental neccessaties.

I'll see if anyone else knows anything but I'm definently going to get started on it. If its attractive and organized I know people will use it. Just want to make sure noeone has a current "favorite place" to go as it is.

use irc fag. there are many clients out there, find one thats not 'plain and boring' to you. I prefer nothing fancy myself. Imo, fuck a java/web based chat. With irc, we can trade files also.

me an mr. mystery set one up a while back... it never took off. only the regulars came into the channel, but never stayed for long. i think most people on this forum are too busy to idle on irc all the time.

it's been attempted a few times, all have failed. you can try if you like, but don't expect much to happen.

Someone post one of those links that make your irc client connect to the server and join the channel for you and i'll join heh.

Woah woah.

Theres something a lot of you are missing. When I was using the chat room on avg there was at least 50 people signed in from tranceaddict.

This was about 2 years ago but sounds nothing like what you people are talking about. I have to go dig into my older posts on another site and when I find the name I'll throw it out here.

i only know of two tranceaddict chat rooms - #ukta and trancEaddict on soulseek. neither of them have anything to do with producing, they're like the COR.

The way to go would definately be a web based thing linked straight into the site in my opinion. I can't be stuffed downloading some dodgy chat program and mucking around with it, I do like to spend SOME time producing.
