omplete 5 The value in Reaktor 5

I purchased Komplete 5 a while ago, but mostly for Akoustik, Kontakt, and Battery. The rest were a bonus.

Having read more about Reaktor, seems somewhat interesting with being able to create your own synth, or just use the ones that come with it. Anyone have experience with any of the included synths, such as Carbon?

Also, what's the real value in designing your own synth from this software... they make it sound like you can make anything, but are you really going to end up with variety of color you get from buying synths from unrelated vendors?

If you are going for ultra dark ambient noisescapes or weird sound manipulation, then Reaktor is by far the best choice of all. A lifetime is not enough to tinker with all the possibilities of sound design you got here. But usually I want to make tracks, not synths.. so I end up using some community made synths to create sick soundscapes (i call them ambient noise generators). Even those have some very unusual parameters that you can tweak and tweak and tweak or just go random with them.

As for "regular" sounds, you dont really need to use the Reaktor. Sure there are some decent sounding synth modules in there but I simply feel more comfortable with the interfaces of z3ta, Albino and the likes. Comfort and the interfaces are probably the most noticeable difference here.

You have a lot of freedom when designing you own synths. I am not good at it at all but there are huge possibilities. The problem of the design your own synth thing is you have to use reaktor's filters, reaktor's wave generators, and reaktor's FX as modules for your synth. You can go deep but not to the bottom of this, so you have to be creative with the way you combine the tools you get to create something unique.

Reaktor's great for adding some interest to make your track stand out IMO. Thats what I like about it. But writing a whole track using only reaktor would drive you insane, so its a matter of balance. One more thing: white grains. nuff said.

carbon is definitely an awesome reaktor synth. the sound is just outstanding. especially those guitar like PM sounds are very cool.
