Sad Stereo Montreal Burned Down

.....last night!! $500,000 worth of damage and suspected foul play Second fire recently.

This is such horrible news for those of you who have experienced this club. It is a fav for both patrons and DJ's. Hopefully Scott and the other management can recover from this and get it back up and running.

Edit: I would post a news link, but they are all in french from what I have seen.

Me tooo! I love that place! Such a bummer to MTL's nightlife with Aria turning into gay ass LaMouche. (and a bummer to the whole world, this place is known to soo many people. The place was amazing.)

The sound was going downhill but it was still such an awesome vibe there. They had really cool lights and not too mention everyone was really there to dance. They had such good lineups consistently. I am so pissed about this. I was going up there in a month to visit my Montreal friends I was there for the first Danny Howells set there. One of the best nights clubbing in my life I'll never forget when he dropped Jon Silva - Love In Me and that entire packed club went ape Ugh I had a dream to play there someday too. FUCK!

Hmm won't be online again til tuesday but I would keep up to date in the mtl and toronto threads for english reports. Plus its interesting to read the conspiracy theories behind the arson. Ie: club politics, corporate builders wanting to put condos there, insurance fraud, etc...

I am still soo bummed about this wonder if markus sculz has heard about this yet

somebody was just telling me that it was going to close down soon anyways. sounds like an insurance job if you ask me. clubs just don't "burn down" by accident. sad news either way.......

Yup thats what I wrote in my first post. LaMouche is ok as a club but the music is more top 40 and pop dance. Bottle service and trendy type crowds. Nothing like Aria at all. I laugh at the thought of like preach playing there NOW. You aren't really missing anything, malek graciously took us there and we left after 30 minutes for a better option! LOLOL!!

LOL, can we expect a Pacha fire soon ?

Posted by Patius on Jul-03-2008 23:24:

spoke to Scott Lanscaster (one of the owners) and a crew is already in place cleaning everything. He hopes to have (((Stereo))) open within 3 weeks or so.

No Calderone on July 12th, and maybe not Corsten the weekend after, but for sure Ana Paula by the beginning of August,

July 4th, 2008
Official press release

Hello to all Stereo fans,
As many of you may well already know, Stereo was hit by fire on Wednesday at around midnight. Damages are considerable but the club is far from being a total loss for two major reasons. First, only the infrastructure was badly hurt. Our famous sound system was mostly unaffected. The largest repair workload will be related to some rebuilding of the back end and to cleaning up due to the thick smoke which tends to leave a mess of soot after such a fire.
The second reason, and without a doubt the most important of all, is that YOU are really the heart of Stereo. Without you, the club wouldn’t matter anyway. We would like to take the time to thank all of you for your constant support in this sad moment of difficulties as you have already shown us in the past.
Stereo will reopen its door quickly enough, rest assured. We will have to wait for the investigation on criminal fires to be over to be able to start up repairs of any kind. All of this should be done rather quickly, despite the extent of the damage.
Meanwhile, we would like to inform you that Stereobar will nevertheless be opened this weekend. DJ Chopin will be celebrating his birthday Friday Night and Joubin, who was scheduled to play upstairs, will also take turns behind the turntables with Jeff Fontaine. Saturday night, Alain Jackinsky and Patrick Guay will also move their night downstairs alongside duo Bruno Brown & Erik El.
We would also like to point out that the terrace on Ste-Catherine is now opened and will be every Thursday and Fridays from 5pm to midnight, as well as Saturdays and Sundays from Noon to Midnight. An ideal space to spend some time outside with good friends.

Refunds:
For all those who had bought their tickets for the Victor Calderone (July 12) and Ferry Corsten (July 18), a second message will be released to inform you of the necessary steps to take, if NECESSARY. We are presently looking at the possibility of transferring those nights into another establishment. More details about these matters will follow in the days to come.

Thank you all for staying loyal to us.

Sincerely yours,

The Stereo management
