wimbledon / tennis appreciation thread
this is and has been my favorite tennis tournament to watch hands down since i was probably 8 years old and my love for the tournament is a big reason why i even started playing tennis.
anyway, this year is so damn exciting. an all williams final will probably occur and i'm hoping to see serena lose and hopefully get spanked by her sister. then of course there is the safin - federer semi-final which is probably the match i am most looking forward to watching. i would love to see safin beat federer then meet nadal in the final where nadal wins his first wimbledon title and capture the #1 spot in the world. if that doesn't happen i want to see nadal do to federer on grass what he did to him on the clay at roland garros a couple weeks back.
i liked the graf sampras years better

Pete was the best, but these players are exiting as well. Federer Nadal final would be awesome.
I stopped caring after all the hot chicks got eliminated. Who the fuck wants to watch a match between the Williams brothers?

I really enjoyed Murray getting beat so easy against Nadal, just excellent.
Its really funny, when Murray is winning the camera man zooms in on people wearing their british hats badges and face paint. And commentators dont fuck up about him being british.
Then of course when he is getting his hole whipped by nadal, the camera zooms in on people with the Scottish flags
And of course suddenly he is referred to as the man from Dunblane in Scotland by commentators
Beavis & Butt-head looking c**t
boris becker for the win, yaaaaaa!!!
i don't give two shits what they look like, they play good tennis and that's all that matters.
also, serena is built like a strong guy with huge boobs so she's really not that manly looking...mauresmo and kuznetsova i think fit that description more so than serena. venus is built comparable to sharapova, vaidisova, safina, hutchukova, dementieva and all those other tall slender female tennis players. she's not pretty but she really is no different with regards to body type from a large majority of female tennis players...
I don't care about looks with regards to how well someone plays tennis but I do admit Nadal and Safin ain't so bad to watch
I say the title be changed to appreciate Tennis. It is a fucking awesome game imho.
Oh and yes the Nadal - Federer final would be great.

Originally posted by chimera66 it is fantastic to both play and watch. the best thing about it though is that it is a life long sport. i had a coach in college who was like 70 years old and although i was younger and faster he had such great touch on the ball and control that he could run us around like crazy people. haven't played in months though and i've got the itch to pick up my racket again this summer.
just enrolled in tennis classes for the summer.
I certainly appreciate

Originally posted by gehzumteufel Yeah, I do find it fantastic to watch. I have never played though. Football (soccer) is my first love sports wise. I want to get back into it. I am going to find an adult league soon enough and start playing again. I miss it a lot. Especially lately with the Euro 2008 and all the games that I have been watching. But yeah, it is a fantastic sport.
i'm just waiting for the us open to roll around... for obvious reasons

Originally posted by trunks1022 you try kneeling at the nets for 2-3 hours at a time then getting up to run full speed as for the shoulder, the us open is the only one of the four major tournaments where the balls are thrown the length of the court. the aussie, french, and wimbledon all roll the balls. it's tough throwing a weightless object about 100-120 feet depending on the court.
kidding.
