Anyone else think insomniac sucks balls?
The line at EDC was the worst thing ever. It was completely uncontrollable up to the first taped off line, people were getting crushed. The same goes for the final break to the actual searches.
I waited for 2 hours starting at the back of the line at 5:30 and finally cut up to the push fest, where it took another 45 minutes to finally get in.
I don't understand why groovetickets has fences for a line but the switchbacked snake of a line where everyone cuts doesn't.
Waiting for 2 hours at TAO wasn't even as bad.
To top it off, $25 parking (instead of $15 at last year's EDC) and $4 waters just slaps me further in the face.
Last but not least, at one of the drink stands that was "out of $1 bills as change," I had to argue with one of the ladies who thought a $6 monster drink and a $4 water equaled $11.
Fucking A.
/rant off
I doubt anything will be done unless demand goes down. I also doubt the demand will go down.
NO...
the fact that they have been able to throw parties for the last 10-15 years and bring in huge talent gets respect from me. Weather you like the people they book or the parties they throw, for them to be doing what they are doing while almost every promoter from the 90's bailed out is props to them.
fuck off, if you ever been to a masive the lines are always long. It's always like this when massive pull 40+k. 4 doller water, try paying 6 bucks at giant village. They always ways to work the line.
Jesus H. Christ! Those guys work way to hard for someone to come in here and try to slam them cuz you had to wait in line like 60 thousand other people. I personally love being in line you really feel the excitement people have to be part of something like this.
I don't think the rest of this crowd gave 2 shits about the line. Great show! Insomiac rocked it!

Everything was cheaper last yr! Even gas prices! I was happy paying the $25.00 for parking where as others paid $40.00 or more! No complaining from me there. Besides I thought Insomniac didn't have anything to do with the parking.
Paying $4.00 for water was OK for me too! I was expecting to pay way more!
INSOMNIAC ROCKS!
If they add more entrances next year, and hire better security...Then they'll rock
At massives I never get in the end of the line. I always cut to the front and push to get in asap. Next massive im wearing my viking helmet, kids will be in fear to get out of the way.

No way! Insomniac throws done every year - same with skills. The massives are a must to support the scene. If it were up to clubs only, the underage would never be able to see the djs they are growing up with. Also, having massives that can hold thousands, especially in the EDC venue, is like nothing else in the state. So prices are high, lines are long, same artists, etc. but just think how bad the scene would be without insomniac. Artists hear that LA has a good reputation because of all the events and massives. If it were purely clubs, it would be a lot harder and more expensive to book quality acts. I asked above and beyond what they thought about playing at the massive last year and they loved it. They say between djs, talking about gigs helps make the artist feel more secure before playing at an event knowing there will be a good crowd, be it a club or massive. And they told a few about the event, even made a video about it. ANd IMO nothng beats an outdoor stage massive. Yea its a short set and what not, but the vibe of the show being outdoors (one stage) instead of just a indoor massive or tents only is just amazing.
Keep on tearing things up Insomniac!
(Just look at the pics from Rukes - explains it all)
The big problem is the fashionably late crowd. If there is an event this big, people still think they can show up late and everything will be fine. But then everyone else thinks that too, then you get a huge mess.
If you decide to go when it opens, you get no traffic, quick parking very short line and get in just about when it opens.
It is not in anyway shape or form the "promoters" issue when you get 65k+ E-tarded little children running around like crazy. The party was absolutly nuts! I had a blast and I think insomniac and everyone involved with there parties I give them props. 100+ dj's several top 20 dj's all at one spot in LA on a regular. WTF are you complaining about? $4 dollar water? Go to any club $5 avg. Shit i've been charged that for a 6oz cup of ice. Shit in miami at space it was like $10 bucks for a water. $22 dollar red bull vodkas, 9-10 dollar beers. Shit I bought a round for myself 5-6 friends it was nearly $200 dollar round to the bar!
Cant wait till next time around!

everything you described is actually the fault of the venue... security was hired by the venue... vendors were hired by the venue... Insomniac just put on the show...

I'd say we stop complaining and start being appreciative for what we have here in West Coast. Despite bad time slot, long wait in line, costly water/parking, etc etc., I think to an extent we ALL had FUN at EDC!! Just try to have fun!
And no I'm not just jumping into the bandwagon.. I was one of the many that complained a lot about EDC earlier in the week, but I should give InsomniacEvents props for hosting such a massive event like that, that ain't easy u know...

Nope i had fun so whatevesss
Anyone reading this and commenting on the topic is fully aware of what comes with a massive. You can predict the entire night months in advance and know what to expect.
In short, there are two things you can do.
1. Dont buy a ticket, and let the event pass you by...
OR
2. Buy your ticket and cope with the craziness at the event... no need for complaining... you already knew what you were getting into!
EVERY damm year it's the same thing... bitching and moaning about how crowded it was. It's a fucking "MASSIVE", what do you expect?
I don't mean to be an ass, but after your first massive experience, you should know the deal! Stay home and chill.
These parties are going to keep going strong... and believe me, your word is being heard, but unfortunately no one important is listening.
