Thoughts on the new Universal Nation remix?

Randomly heard it on the Zabiela & Booka Shade Essential Mix. I didn't think too much of it. It's basically a techno/tech house version of the trance anthem. Seems rather paint-by-numbers to me but probably works wonders on the floor. I haven't any idea who's behind the remix yet, maybe you all do.

Here's the tracklisting by the by.

05 July 2008
Glastonbury 2008

0300 James Zabiela

X-Press 2 'Smoke Machine' (James Talk Unreleased Dub) (CDR)
Untitled (CDR)
Underworld 'Holding The Moth' (Remix) (underworldlive.com)
Spooky 'Candy' (James Zabiela's Very Unfinished Remix) (CDR)
Kate Lawler '20 Years Of Acid' (Toolroom/Leaders Of The New School)
Felix Stone 'Nu Wav' (James Talk Rmx) (Polytechnic)
Push 'Universal Nation' (Remix) (Banzai)
Paul Keeley 'A Sort Of Homecoming' (Michael Cassette Rmx) (Anjuna Deep)
Kos 'Aztec' (Toolroom Trax)
Unknown (CDR)
Bloc Party 'Kruezberg' (R3volve Rmx) (CDR)

0400 Booka Shade

The Sun And The Neon Light
Manderine Girl
Dusty Boots
Blue Rooms
Monkey On My Deck
Outskirts
Charlotte
Night Falls
Sweet Lies
Oh Superman
Unhealthy Pleasures
Darko
In White Rooms

if need be I could upload the set though it'd probably be quicker to just download it from somewhere else. I thought James's set was decent overall.

Really, I don't know. I'm rather tired of these remakes since they seem to be drab 9 times out of 10. I'm sure this one would killllll on a floor, but I'm not really liking it :/

Maybe 3 years ago.

Totally.

^^sarcasm

It's effective, but that's about it. And even that's debatable.

side note, the James Talk remix of Nu Wave was pretty fucking boss.

I'll check it out, just interested to see what on earth it sounds like.

ill agree with that. three years ago id probably have more faith in his track selection, now its been downgraded to them most likely being 'somewhat decent'.

im not expecting a big tune nor do i even want one, im just curious as to how he implemented it the into the mix; especially with all of his efx, scratching, etc. i bet he could make even a horrible rehash sound bearable.

Meh... was ok I guess. I do agree, probably would kill on the floor.

Heard a Mat Zo remix recently, but doubt that's the one you're talking about

It could be a remix for the new Bonzai remix competition, which has Universal Nation as one of the picks.
