Down Tempo help

I'm looking for a good grooving down-tempo CD. I really like stuff with laid back beats. Any ideas?

Androcell, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Ishq, Puff Dragon and Krill Minima, are definitely worth checking out, if you are looking for something both soothing and relaxing.

If you're looking for straightforward downtempo:
Kuba - Through A Lense - really nice warm summer-ish tropical laidback downtempo, probably my favourite downtempo release from 2007
Khooman - Is A Flexible Liquid - this one is also very nice and warm, although a bit psy influenced
Joey Fehrenbach - Mellowdrama - this is a masterpiece I try to recommend to everyone, shamely it's pretty hard to get
Shulman - Endless Rhythms Of The Beatless Heart - beautiful mixture of old and new sounds, second part is slightly eastern influenced so it sounds like old Banco De Gaia

DJ Jimeni - 8 Fold
Brilliant mix consisting of hiphip, triphop and other downtempo'ish stuff. Highly recommended. Right click, save as.

If that's what you're into, I might have another suggestion or two, but I'd have to look up the links.

I find myself to be listening to much of this type of music, lately. Any other recommendations like this, or even better, stuff like this:

quote:
Late Night Back At Mine

Depeche Mode 'Mercy In You' (The Brat rmx)
Primal Scream 'Space Blues #2'
Low Fidelity All Stars 'Nightime Story'
Iggy Pop 'No Shit / Nazi Girlfriend'
Rob Dougan 'Furious Angels'
Nick Cave 'Bring It On'
Mercury Rev 'Holes'
Chemical Bros w/ Hope Sandoval 'Asleep From Day'
Everlast 'What Its Like'
Malcolm Mclaren 'About Her'
Lucy Liu & Julie Dreyfus 'Queen Of The Crime Council'
Meiko Kaji 'Flower Of Carnage' (DJ Gerry rmx)
Morrissey 'America Is Not The World'
Eminem 'Yellow Brick Road'
David Holmes 'Don't Die Just Yet'
The Verve 'Bittersweet Symphony' (James Lavelle rmx)
Ian Brown 'F.E.A.R'
Ennio Morricone 'Il Tromonto'
Iggy again 'She Called Me Daddy'

Dude, this is a SUPERB track. I love the fat drums coupled with the ambient choral synth-pads. AMAZING atmosphere. If all the tracks in the current album are like that, then the current album is a winner for sure.

p.s. I'm currently listening to their myspace tunes. Awesome.

Thanks a lot for the recommendation!

Is that album a digital download only?

Well, apart from the obvious mentions and many of the excellent recommedantions in this thread, you should really check out Express Rising.

http://themixingbowl.org/topics.php...c&topicid=60979

Try that torrent, it has alot of Express Rising's material on it. I actually managed to get my hands on this album: http://www.discogs.com/release/305414

That one holds most of the tracks in that mix.
