Senate passes eavesdropping overhaul

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25605640/

Unbelievable. I don't even know what to say.

And Obama signed it. He just lost my vote.

yeah, that's pretty poor.

quote:

The bill would give the government a week to conduct a wiretap in an emergency before it must apply for a court order. The original law said three days.

does this mean they can carry out wiretapping for 6 days without a court order, and then pack up and go home without telling anyone and without applying for that court order?

So, Obama is showing more and more of his real colours ;-) Doesnt surprise me at all. I talked about this multiple times ... some things never change.

sadly I am on that same boat, had so much hope for him...

but alas.....he is of the same .....

Personally I think winning the election is more important than sticking to his guns.

If you'd vote McCain instead now just over this, you're pretty naive.

At this point I just want to see him win the election, if he's a terrible president, what can you do, but I'd rather take that chance with Obama than with McCain.

Of course I read the link. I just got a little confused - it said that Obama at first didnt sign the bill, then he did at the end. First it was the Israeli lobby group that he made a deal with. Now its a deal with a devil. Whats next?

im sorry, but this kind of self-righteous naivete is a bit silly. the guy has an election to win. the right bash every single democrat on security and their toughness on terrorism. if you want obama to remain as progressive and liberal as he might want to, then you're asking him to apply for the wrong job.

Hah, yeah, I think so, he has to do it or someone else will, in order to get to power. And as a result, the political system remains the same ... whats gonna change, really? American troops pull out of Iraq, at best, but American foreign policy isnt gonna change, really.

I noticed that McCain didnt sign the bill. He might use that as a political card later.

accuse the left of being too right?

and then obama accuses mccain of being soft on terrorism? LOL
