It would be easier to suggest things if we knew when you were arriving.

Also, get on trying to track down Cubs tickets now if you don't want to spend a fortune.

Also, if this is your first trip to Chicago (and at the risk of sounding like a tourist), it's really worth your while to just head down towards the lakefront (millenium park, etc.) and wander downtown.

I absolutely love downtown Chicago. It's the friendliest and most interesting huge city I've been in other than Amsterdam.

concur.

I may stop by at some point in the only-somewhat-distant future, as well.

the best bar in the city is wrigley field. i would definitely suggest getting your tickets ahead of time because they are expensive by the stadium.

as for hotels, i wouldn't suggest spending too much on a hotel because you probably won't be in there much. anything around or just north of the loop would be a good place to stay. if you go on like hotels.com you will find the majority of the hotels are around the same area except for the ones in the suburbs.

Mogwai and fuck buttons on the same night? wow, I've been a Mogwai fan for ages. Will not miss this.

Techno dates look mint.

I will be in Chicago the Civic holiday weekend. I wanted to check out Crobar, but doesn't look like there is much going on. I think I will end up going to see Moby. Any suggestions for a techno lover?

You will have more fun at every other club in chicago than you will in crowbar.

Vision, soundbar, spybar and smartbar are good places to start.

Posted by chiprognut on Jul-18-2008 17:07:

Crobar definitely at the bottom of the list IMO. Check out the others Glass mentioned.

really any of the above named. they'll let you in to all of those places wearing just about anything

Except for SoundBar. Dress relatively nicely (i.e. no tennis shoes) if you plan on going there.

We should also note that if you have table reservations, the dress code is null and void

I think you could do that even if we didn't have a table.

Me, on the other hand - well let's just say you've given me a great idea as to how I'm going to deal with excessively hot and humid clubs the rest of this Summer.
