Logic Quantization. Only 100%?

Hi everyone, I'm wondering about how to quantize 50% of a riff in Logic like on Ableton Live or Reason..
It's only quantizes 100% if I try 1/16 Note and if I select 16A B C Swing it set preset grooves also in 100%.
Quantizing 50% I can leave my own groove, right?

Any help much appreciated.

The different swing values will quantize on preset swing amounts. So 16A is like 8%, 16B is 32%, etc. I'm not sure if those are the real values, but you get the idea. You can import your own groove templates into Logic or extract them from audio files.

Here is a site that has a bunch of AKAI MPC groove templates that can be imported into Logic.

don't forget to enable the view of extended region parameters when working on midi tracks, so you can enable some extra shuffle options, and some flamming in your midi parts too. Great for strumming and some drumparts. Check it out in the macprovideo examples on their site.

You mean you want it to move the notes 50% of the way to the quantise setting rather than hard quantising 100%? I don't use Logic but I would've thought this could be done, I know that both Sonar and Cubase have a setting for this. Usually called 'quantise strength' or something similar I think.

No man, Logic appears to do not have this option...
Right Eric J?

Yes it can be done, but the option for doing it is not shown by default so you have to turn it on.

1. Select any MIDI Region on a track.
2. In the top left hand corner of the Arrange window you will see the Region Parameters box. This is the box which have the following options (in order): QUantize, Loop, Transposition, Velocity, Dynamics, etc.
3. RIGHT-click that box and choose Extended Region Parameters.
4. You will see several new options show up including Quantize Strength.

You will also have a configurable value for Quantize Swing, Range, Flam and a few other things.
