So here is the thread for Eclipse Festival 2008, happening at St. Bonnet Rouge in Quebec August 1-4th. Undoubtedly many people here think it is a psy-oriented event. This year however, the line up will include many other genres in the menu. With the introduction of the Alternative stage, every attendee will get a nice fix of his/her favorite style of music.

To highlight and celebrate the solar eclipse on Friday August 1st, Eclipse Festival 2008 will be held the same week-end and take place August 1-4. The festival returns to the site of the 2005 and 2006 editions, on the shores of magnificent Gatineau river. The solar edition will be presented in the enchanting natural landscape of Bonnet Rouge, in Sainte-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau, Outaouais.

~ ESPACE COMME-UN ~
The Espace Comme-un will foster art and consciousness. Its solar portion will allow participants to take part in conferences and workshops on varied topics, while its lunar portion will focus on multimedia projection: images, short films and films. This area will be a space of synergy between participants, where they can, if only for a moment, relax, learn, be captivated and get warm at need.
The space will be officially launched on Saturday at noon with a potluck lunch: everyone is invited to bring a dish to share. Throughout the festival, you are also invited to showcase your talents on the bulletin board, so that bonds can be created both during and after the event. Participants can also place presents in a box—those presents will be redistributed at random during the festival, increasing the expression of links and coincidences.

Take highway 15 north to St-Jovite. Follow the 117 north to Mont-Laurier, After Mont-Laurier, continue on the 117 for 15 km and turn left (exit Ste-Famille d’Aumond et Maniwaki). When you cross the little village of St-Famille d’Aumond, continue for another 15 km. At the stop sign, go straight to Ste-Thérèse-de-la-Gatineau. The drive to Maniwaki from Toronto isn't bad. I've never found it much of a trek--just load up the good tunes and you'll be there before you know it.
As for whether this thread belongs... certain "A-list" summer festivals deserve their own discussion thread. I am curious to know what TAs will be in attendance this year and I'm sure others are as well!

Fuck this is probably the closest thing to the full moon festival in Germany or Earthcore in Australia.Nowhere near those but it looks fuckin amazing.
Iam just waiting for the perfect lineup and I will go.Last year I was very close to go since Protoculture was playing and I hate myself for not going.
This is a true trance party people with actual trance music.

Last year it was in butt fuck nowhere...this year isn't bad at all.
And dirty hippies or not, the crowd is a blast to party with.

If I hadn't used up all my vacation days for the summer already I'd be going to this. It's been on my 'to do' list for the past few years, but always seems to conflict with my work schedule. Maybe next year.
After the blast I had last year...I was planning to go. But alas, other commitment will prevent me from making it this year.
