The Dark Knight

The best movie this summer ! Heath Ledger went out with blaze of glory !

Posted by nchs09 on Jul-18-2008 07:24:

I heard Ledger died before filming was done and Will Smith filled in for part of the movie. Is this true?

i hear Hollywood likes to give awards to drug addicts who OD and leave behind families... true?

ummm.. The Dark Knight- not night. seriously, the best superhero movie ever made.. you gotta get the title right.
jack Nicholson is upset that his Joker is now obsolete+
quote:
MTV: What do you think of another actor, Heath Ledger, playing the Joker in next summer's "The Dark Knight"?

Nicholson: Let me be the way I'm not in interviews. I'm furious. I'm furious. [He laughs.] They never asked me about a sequel with the Joker. I know how to do that! Nobody ever asked me.

MTV: It was never brought up?

Nicholson: No. It's like, in any area, you can't believe the reasons things do or don't happen. Not asking me how to do the sequel is that kind of thing. Maybe it's not a mistake. Maybe it was the right thing, but to be candid, I'm furious.

MTV: I'm surprised to hear you sounding competitive about a role like that.

Nicholson: Well, the Joker comes from my childhood. That's how I got involved with it in the first place. It's a part I always thought I should play.

(What do you think of Jack's controversial Joker comments? Tell us at the MTV Movies Blog!)

MTV: Will you see the new film?

Nicholson: I'm not inclined to watch it because of what I said. But if it's a good movie, I'll catch up with it somewhere. I don't think they ever really captured Tim Burton's spirit [since he stopped being involved]. They kind of drove the franchise into the ground. Tim Burton's a genius. He had the right take on it. That's why I did the movie. I did the movie based on a single conversation with him. We both come from the cartoon world originally. We had similar ideas. Tim said [the Joker] should have a humorous dark side to him. [Burton is] one of the great moviemakers. I think the world of him. He's the most unassuming man. And he doesn't feel pressure. That's what I love about him. Once he's in there, he's smiling making the movie. That's it!

This is a sad comment and in really poor taste, that family lost a son, a father, and we lost an artist at the prime of his career.

Every actor in this movie was increadible, Oscar needs to broaden what they consider best picture, cuz I can't picture anyone not being moved by the powerful statement this movie makes. It felt more like an epic crime drama than a superhero movie. Very dark and tragic!

TOO SOON. TOO SOON.

Well that doesnt tell us much...

What happens in the movie?
Where does the joker come from?
Does he die?
Is there more villains other then the joker?
Do they die?

Okay, go see this at the Arclight Dome in Hollywood or at IMAX..

I just got back from it, and definately the best Batman of them all.

Loved this movie, and would go see it again in a heartbeat. Maybe at IMAX

Go see it at Imax. There is even a different score mix for the imax because of the different speaker configuration.

Seriously a great movie. the story behind it and all. wow. want to see more of the director's pictures.

......WHOA

Thumbs up

Saw this in IMAX yesterday. I was a bit skeptical of everyone saying Ledger had such a great performance (I thought maybe people were giving him extra kudos now that he'd passed). I have to say I was very impressed. All the characters were played quite well, there was a good story, and plenty of sweet action. The Joker stole the show, however -- I think he outplayed Nicholson (not an easy thing to do!). I'd highly recommend this movie to anyone that hasn't seen it yet!

surprisingly this got an A on yahoo movies. must really be something.

Am I better off going to the Arclight or the Bridge (Imax)?

Posted by Psiweaver on Jul-20-2008 02:05:

I'd probably say Arclight. But thats just because I find there sound and picture to be very good where as while the imax is a large presentation and usually the sound is pretty good, i've never found it to be quite as impactful as arclight.
