post your jp8000/8080 bass sounds

hi, im very curious on the bass capabilities of this hardware, could someone post like a short clip or long clip of your jp bass. I do like strong basses more, but weaker ones are cool. thanks

Practicly useless for basslines imo, but it makes lovely bass drones, in fact its bass pads is the one reason i`m not selling mine.

I`ll try and post some samples later.

Kind of have to agree here. The Throb preset is kind of a bass-type sound, but I don't think its all that useful as a primary bass patch. I have made a Bass patch here and there, but there are much better synths for this, even in software.

Now if you want Pads (Massive Pad sounds fantastic), Leads or bleep-y, blipp-y stuff, then the JP-80x0 is the one. Plus the filter sounds really good.

if this made good bass i would buy it, but i would still like to see how it sounds

with some resonance if possible

I just scraped something together to give a vague representation of how the JP bass sounds.

jpbassample

It seems to be no good at basses that goes at 1/16 notes.

But for longer basses such as drones it sounds pretty good, it can sound like a Juno.
I believe the JP to be pretty popular amongst DnB producers because of its drones.

not too bad, you could sidechain something decent with the good filter right?

Posted by MSZ on Jul-22-2008 18:34:

what are you using 8080?

Posted by Subtle on Jul-22-2008 18:37:

Thats the 8000.

But beware, its not gonna sound good on 16th notes.

The filter starts crackling with short envelopes.

i dont think its worth the buy at this point of time, although it does have a nice sonic grainy property, and a nice growl ;]

Dont really use mine for bass tbh

yes, no one ever talks about the bass on the jp, i was curious

I remember playing with this at a friends place and we used the bottom layer of a patch called "Road to Goa" and after making a few tweaks to it, we found the bass to be incredible.

but i mean, iv only played wit hit a few times

Ferry Corsten says in an interview he uses it for bass alot.

I almost used my jp8080 for a rolling bass number... but it was so fudged up in my mixer... I made some experimental changes to it and then saved OVER my previous mixer state -- lost it (boohoo). It was the closest I came to making the JP useful for a rolling bassline (not 'Angles & Demons (Carl B rmx)' good, but still interesting).

Otherwise, I can never get the attack and hold of the note to sound "just right" for the basslines I want.

Drone or 8th note basslines, it's prolly killer. Otherwise, I stick with my pile of software synths.

EDIT:

A well shaped noise-gate might be the firepower a producer needs to get a JP-80x0 rolling (so-to-speak). Just a theory... I'm going to have to get my 8080 plugged back-in someday and try it (when I don't have homework, papers, and other scraps piled over the desk that it use to be on).

They go for around $400-$600 US used. Check eBay, there are usually quite a few available.
That's where I got mine.

I paid $575 for mine off Ebay 2 years ago, and it was mint condition! Be very careful as there are a bunch that people have just banged the hell out of, and some that are missing knobs. Took me about a month of daily searches to find the perfect one.
