Somebody can me to help?

I just watched 'Con Air' last night for the first time in a while, and one scene had me chuckling away for a while :

Cyrus Grissom: Considering my audience, I am going to make this quick and simple.

Cyrus Grissom: [points to objects in the sand] This is the boneyard, this is the hanger and this is our plane.

Convict #1: [points to a rock] Okay, what's that?

Cyrus Grissom: That? That's a rock!
[knocks it out of the way]

Convict #1: Okay.

That's gotta be my favourite quote at the moment. I'll post when I think of some more. Need more coffee.

"Greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works. Greed clarifies, cuts through, and captures the essence of the evolutionary spirit. Greed, in all of its forms, greed for life, for money, for love, knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind."

Mike Donovan: Hail Mary, full of grace, the lord
Dexter Morgan: [Slaps him] Stop, that never helped anybody
(from the show "dexter")

Ross: Spoof. Dope. Crank. Creep. Bomb. Spank. Shit. Bang. Zip. Tweak. Chard. Call it what you will. It's all methamphetamine. That's what I'm here for.

Tyler Durden: If you could fight anyone, who would you fight?
Narrator: I'd fight my boss, prob'ly.
Tyler Durden: Really.
Narrator: Yeah, why, who would you fight?
Tyler Durden: I'd fight my dad.
Narrator: I don't know my dad. I mean, I know him, but... he left when I was like six years old. Married this other woman, had some other kids. He like did this every six years, he goes to a new city and starts a new family.

That film Truth About Cats and Dogs:

After white boss cat has told the other cat to set fire to the building.

White Boss Cat: "You stay here."
Other Minion Cat: "Why?"
White Boss Cat: "...mmm..because I hate you"
*locks door trapping minion cat*

Was a real moment.

One fav is an Adam Smith quote:

"Lotteries are a tax on ignorance."

Less concise so I had to look it up (Smith again) but so true:

"Let us suppose that the great empire of China, with all its myriads of inhabitants, was suddenly swallowed up by an earthquake, and let us consider how a man of humanity in Europe, who had no sort of connection with that part of the world, would be affected upon receiving intelligence of this dreadful calamity. He would, I imagine, first of all, express very strongly his sorrow for the misfortune of that unhappy people, he would make many melancholy reflections upon the precariousness of human life, and the vanity of all the labours of man, which could thus be annihilated in a moment. He would too, perhaps, if he was a man of speculation, enter into many reasonings concerning the effects which this disaster might produce upon the commerce of Europe, and the trade and business of the world in general. And when all this fine philosophy was over, when all these humane sentiments had been once fairly expressed, he would pursue his business or his pleasure, take his repose or his diversion, with the same ease and tranquillity, as if no such accident had happened. The most frivolous disaster which could befall himself would occasion a more real disturbance. If he was to lose his little finger to-morrow, he would not sleep to-night; but, provided he never saw them, he will snore with the most profound security over the ruin of a hundred millions of his brethren, and the destruction of that immense multitude seems plainly an object less interesting to him, than this paltry misfortune of his own."

Adam Smith (I'm a fan lol):

quote:
Mercy to the guilty is cruelty to the innocent.

Written in 1760ish

quote:
China & India

* The retinue of a grandee in China or Indostan [sic] accordingly is, by all accounts, much more numerous and splendid than that of the richest subjects in Europe in manufacturing art and industry, China and Indostan, though inferior, seem not to be much inferior to any part of Europe. The money price of the greater part of manufactures, therefore, will naturally be much lower in those great empires than it is any-where in Europe.

"Until a man is twenty-five, he still thinks, every so often, that under the right circumstances he could be the baddest mother****** in the world. If I moved to a martial-arts monastery in China and studied real hard for ten years. If my family was wiped out by Colombian drug dealers and I swore myself to revenge. If I got a fatal disease, had one year to live, and devoted it to wiping out street crime. If I just dropped out and devoted my life to being bad.
Hiro used to feel this way, too, but then he ran into Raven. In a way, this was liberating. He no longer has to worry about being the baddest mother****** in the world. The position is taken."
