Anybody have any news on this, he said he will be moving away from Tribal and going into techno, more news on his new upcoming CD.

LOL!!!

Is this a joke thread?

Posted by elFreak on Jul-26-2008 17:15:

lol what doesn't he play.

Posted by zeKsg on Jul-26-2008 17:18:

I heard it only 2 days ago, and I have been listening to a lot of Danny Tenaglia and he has been playing a lot of tribal still, but the kind of techno that he played that night was blowing me away... It was pure bliss minimal/dark twisted techno...

I have never heard him play that sound before, maybe I am not so up to date of this but god damn I like him a lot more now...

EDIT: I have yet to see him live though, should be a lot of fun

when you play for like 15 hours you better have more than tribal in your bag lol.

Posted by Zinger on Jul-26-2008 17:32:

theres barely anymore tribal DJ's around....maybe Chus & Ceballos? havent heard them in like 2 years tho so not sure...

tenaglia hasnt been a "tribal" dj for years now

Posted by elFreak on Jul-26-2008 17:34:

actually if anything percussive music is more popular than ever. It is just different dj's and different sounds. Tech House and Techno are full of percussive releases right now.

Kaden <3

pps don't forget montreal's own Guillaume "Coutu" Dumont.

he has really blown up.

why he hasn't had a club booking astounds me.

Imo kind of sucks that Tribal is becoming less and less now, I really enjoyed some of the 2006/2007 Victor Calderone and Dj Vibe sessions..

i meant lol because it's really not a very good venue, especially for talent like that.

they did they the first piknik, and it was awesome

The old tribal house sound has gone to shit years ago lol. Its minimal tribal stuff now, you see Kaden and all people associated with villalobos playing the new tribal.

"pulsing x-berg" I really enjoy, the other 3 are alright....

This kind of music really reminds me of Mathias Kaden vs. Onur zer from Piknic...

But it is not as driving as the dirty pumping tribal by Vibe and Calderone back a few years ago.

EDIT: just listening to the second part of that picnik set by Kaden, really sick stuff around 26-30 minutes into it

If this is the stuff you're talking about ANF, its hot...

That old era of tribal is done anyway.

I can't believe this is a serious topic. Tenaglia has been playing techno for years and years and years, it isn't a fad to him, it's always been a staple of his sets. Any given time, even in the tribal days, he'd still rock out with 25 to 30% techno in his sets.

Nowadays he's probably 40% to 50% techno in his sets. It's not like he just switched and followed the techno trend, he has been doing it for years.

But if you like tribal, hardtimes. There's a bunch of smaller tribal DJs from Spain and Portugal, but that's it really. The Carlos'es are pretty good, as they have already been mentioned in this thread.

It is because I have only been listening to this music for about a year and a half and of course starting with trance and ending up switching more onto house and now more close towards techno

I agree, the thing is almost every artist is moving towards this sound, making many variations

Extremely tasty stuff
