McCain Campaign Grows Desperate

McCain challenged Obama to visit Iraq, Afghanistan, Europe, etc. Now that he did, the trip becoming a wild success and dominating major news headlines, the McCain campaign in its desperation came up with this!

McCain camp: Obama shortchanged injured troops

By DOUGLASS K. DANIEL, Associated Press Writer 33 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Republican John McCain's campaign on Saturday sharply criticized Democratic rival Barack Obama for canceling a visit to wounded troops in Germany, contending Obama chose foreign leaders and cheering Europeans over "injured American heroes."

Obama's campaign called the accusation "wildly inappropriate." His spokesman has claimed that the visit to a military hospital in Germany was scrapped after the Pentagon raised concerns about political activity on a military base. Earlier, though, the campaign had said Obama decided the visit might be seen as inappropriate politicking. However, the Pentagon said the senator was never told not to visit.

Obama wouldn't go because the military didn't want cameras in the hospitals.

he didn't want to go after he was told he could not bring his press there. he canceled AFTER learning this.

this is the guy who wants to be CINC.

McCain has every right to hammer him into the dirt over this.

hey heres a thought, doofus. how about address my points in YOUR OWN F**KING THREAD?

for starters, explain to me how McCain making a simple observation is a "smear"?

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Jul-27-2008 10:28:

those who are desperate often grasp at straws, in my opinion. The McCaine camp has been doing this from day one. How he stands even a remote chance that this point I will never understand.

Bush has presided over the absolute WORST period in recent American history and the Republican Party is still only six points behind Obama in the polls? Seriously...that is some fucked up shit.

well, two things for you to consider then. either A) not as many people think he's the "worst President in history" as you believe or B) you're giving Obama, seriously...too much credit.

What good things has Bush done in his eight years as President?

Foreign policy? Economic policy? Do tell!

I am addressing your points... You're the one who feels like he has to call people myopic in every thread. You can call me doofus, but I can't respond right? Hmm..sounds about right for authoritarian right wingers. The opposition is not allowed to respond!

McCain is trying to grab whatever media attention he can, whatever little insignificant thing he can find, it really is hilarious. So the Obama campaign decided to take the Pentagon's advice at its word. Tell me, how does that have ANYTHING to do with being president. McCain has basically been trying to label Obama as a traitor! So I'm not surprised in the least bit.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Jul-27-2008 18:44:

I personally love McCain's fear mongering about Obama's inexperience in foreign policy. Well now it's pretty clear who the rest of the world wants to deal with after Obama's trip.

Why is there such an emphasis on the American president having a military background? how exactly does that make you a better leader? Are we really to believe that McCain has a better grasp on foreign policy because he was a POW and served in Vietnam?

really?

I totally agree with this, all of McCain's "foreign policy experience" is basically that he was once a prisoner of war. Makes so much sense! Obviously it seems like Obama has a lot better knowledge of current events in the world, and how to deal with them (plus being more popular in the world, it makes it easier). I'm sure McCain did a great service in the miliary, but that doesn't make him a good president in any way (that said I don't think it will make him a bad one either, it just doesn't make sense to use it as an argument for his campaign). Same with McCain's criticism of Obamas general lack of experience (and especially lack of executive experience), but really, McCain has no executive experience either, and the only thing he did was to be in the senate longer than Obama!

He has made America a better and more secure place? There has been no terrorist attacks in America since 9/11..? He and his intelligence forces have foiled several terrorist attacks on America? Captured many terrorists in American soil just before they were to blew up whole place?

hmm...and you don't think that Al Gore, John Kerry or Barack Obama would or could have made the United States just as secure? Of course they would have. And I don't know if you heard, but the Bush administration was in possession of intelligence about a possible terrorist attack on American soil during the summer of 2001 and did ABSOLUTELY FUCK ALL ABOUT IT.

But they certainly wouldn't have waged a completely wasteful and unwinnable war in Iraq. Afghanistan should have always been the focus, yet somehow Iraq has become the centre piece while there has been no real attempt to capture Osama Bin Laden.

And at what PRICE has Bush and his cronies made America a "more secure nation"? Nobody can afford their mortgages anymore, unemployment is higher than ever in your country, 50 million Americans do not have or cannot afford health insurance, the war in Iraq is costing billions and billions of dollars a year...for what exactly? The American dollar is weaker than it's EVER been and China and Europe are kicking your fucking ass in the economic sector. Nobody wants to join your armed forces anymore so they've resorted to backdoor drafts which keep soldiers going back to the Middle East for their 5th, 6th and 7th tours even though they were told they'd be discharged after one.

There are far too many problems INSIDE your country that need as much political attention as making the United States "more secure".

There's really no point in debating with people like you though. Right wing, fear mongering propaganda has clearly got ahold of your views.

a lot, but we're not electing him are we?

what i'm trying to tell you, a foreigner BTW, is that maybe your perceptions are off. say around 25% off, according to an assertion you made in another thread stating that you think Obama should be 30% up against McCain.

maybe what you've been told and choose to believe about these candidates don't quite fit the reality.

i going to make an assumption here about you and if i am, tell me i'm wrong. you want this country to embrace a western European, socialist model. one that reflects the ideals of a more progressive entitlement attitude towards it's citizens and a hands off approach to threats to that model. McCain represents to you an antithesis to that desire. right?

Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure things are not "completely unwinnable" in Iraq... just ask the Messiah. As badly as he would love to agree with you, even he can't anymore.

How has Bush and his cronies made America more safe? I don't have the exact data, but there hasn't been a single attack in 7 years, plus multiple plots foiled.

Nobody can afford their mortgages anymore? How the fuck is that Bush's fault? Why don't the people who irresponsibly accept loans from banks for a $250,000 house who KNOW they can't afford the payments get any of the blame? What about the banks who could clearly see peoples' finanical statements before getting the loan and know they can't afford it? No... let's blame it on Bush.

There was a higher umemployment rate during parts of 2001, 2002, 20003, and 2004 than there is right now. So what the fuck are you talking about? Take that bullshit to Europe where they have 8% unemployment.

Backdoor drafts? LOL where do you get your information? In 2007 the military reached 99% of their benchmark for enlistment... all voluntarily:
Navy: 102%
Marines: 110%
Air Force: 100%
Army: 84%

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Jul-27-2008 20:36:

lol...is that so? I'm curious as to what news you read or watch?

Have you ever considered watching say...the BBC or CBC for their coverage of the American elections? I also watch a lot of CNN too. I'd go as far to say that I'm probably more informed about your own election and about these two candidates than most Americans. Only half of you actually go vote anyway and nobody seems to care much about the fucking issues in your country.

I'm guessing that you probably watch FOX News?

Myself, like most other "foreigners" who pay attention to American politics (and certainly most world leaders) are quite ready to embrace Mr. Obama as the next President. It's such an easy choice really.

Why is it so easy? What is it about Obama that is so appealing to you as a foreigner... other than his lofty speeches and promises to save the world from itself? Tell me exactly what policies he stands for, and evidence based on his political experience and voting record that makes it such an easy choice? This should be a simple answer since you're so much more informed politically on American politics than actual Americans.

yes, thats all i watch is Foxnews.

it's obvious you're quite ready to embrace Obama and thats fine. accepting that and writing off half of America as ilinformed is probably much easier for you than just trying to understand what makes the electorate in this country tick. just try to avoid applying your political and social standards to us as a whole.
