TA Remix Competition #10

Welcome to the 10th Tranceaddict Remix Competition!
This time the remixed track will be the Anjunabeats classic, P.O.S. - Remember (Summer Sun)
The midi can be downloaded here: http://www.nonstop2k.com/midifiles/download.php?id=3571
Listen to the original here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJqADd9i-qc

GENRE

quote:
"Genre: This is tranceaddict, so please place your remixes somewhere at least in the electronica genre. Trance is preferred, but feel free to span out into the the harder, chiller, deeper, more progressive, or breakbeat versions of it. No rock or jazz or anything please."

Same rules as in the previous competitions. If you decide to stray from the trance genre, try to keep it atleast somewhat trancy.

JUDGING

quote:

Judges will qualify in scores from 1 to 10, the following 4 categories.

Creativity: I think this is not needed to be explained, no brainer knows what this category covers.

Overall Sound: You don't have to be an engineer (if you are, you have more advantage tho) to make it sound decent, judges will look for clarity in the song, clipping, humming , excess of high frequencies , drowning, all of this will be taken under consideration.

Melody: How remixers interprets the main melody and news melodies implemented, if they are harmonious or not etc.

Arrangement: Structure of the track, if they are Dj Friendly or not, if it lacks of drive etc.

If anyone wants to be a judge PM me. Judges will not be able to participate in the competition.

PARTICIPANTS

- There will be no limit on the amount of participants.

PRIZE

To choose the track and run the next competition of course.

RULES/SUBMISSION

- Only one submission per participant.

If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you upload a midi with seperate channels.

Make sure you're importing it correctly, that you're not importing it as a type 0 midi.

Whoops! I just noticed I messed up the last chords in the piano part. I've uploaded a correct midi now. It's in the first post.

Nah... c'mon. If I can turn Chicane - Halcyon into a dark "brooding" track then you can certainly make this your own as well.

No. I tried extracting it from the track using phase cancellation but I wasn't successful. And I doubt Paavo would give us the sample.

Posted by Takkra on Sep-11-2008 18:08:

Posted by 3F05Q on Sep-11-2008 18:24:

Crap... I haven't even started yet! I JUST got a desk, so maybe soon. Good thing the deadline is the end of October.

i'll give it a whirl... whether i submit it is another question

Posted by Takkra on Oct-13-2008 06:20:

some sad news,
last night my computer crashed which I don't know the cause of still.
Anyway, a couple of my HD partitions got damaged and I needed to erase the entire thing including my projectfiles.
I tried to save them, but the computer wouldn't copy them to another drive. So all I have now is the first 192kb/s mp3 of my remix.
Which is way worse then the last (4th) render...

Posted by pactdonkey on Oct-21-2008 23:04:

Giving this a try! hopefully 10 days will be enough!
Look forward to hear what people come up with.

Posted by pactdonkey on Oct-23-2008 20:47:

Hows everyone getting on with this?

Posted by PDM on Oct-24-2008 07:21:

Unfortunately I'll have to drop out, can't get it done.

Posted by Eldritch on Oct-27-2008 20:20:

I'm extending the deadline to November 10th. I will be away all week anyways and I haven't recieved that many entries so far.

I will offer to do a remix for the winner (If they want one, lol).
It's the least I could do since I couldn't come up with a prize for this competition.
