Suffice to say that McCain's ad (smear?) campaign appears to be working in the polls...

McCain pledges 'respectful campaign'

By David Jackson, USA TODAY
ALEXANDRIA, Va. John McCain pledged a "respectful campaign" Tuesday against either Barack Obama or Hillary Rodham Clinton, but said he is less confident about the influence of outside political groups.

The so-called "527" organizations named for the section of the tax code under which they operate can "poison the political atmosphere," McCain said during a town hall meeting at his old high school in northern Virginia.

The subject arose when a questioner at Episcopal High School asked McCain whether the prospect of two senators running against each other in the fall might lead to less negativity.

McCain said he hopes so, adding that he respects both Obama and Clinton, and believes they respect him. "Americans want more respectful campaigns," he added. But the longtime proponent of overhauling campaign finance laws said it's very hard to control the activities of allegedly independent groups that engage in negative campaigning.

McCain Ad Likens Obama To Britney and Paris

by Scott Horsley

All Things Considered, July 30, 2008 John McCain's presidential campaign has unveiled a new political ad that seeks to turn Barack Obama's popularity into a liability.

The ad opens with scenes from Obama's recent European trip, which drew big crowds, interspersed with images of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

Glad they really care about the issues...

Kathy Hilton lashes out at McCain ad calling it a 'waste'

Kathy Hilton is the latest member of the Hilton clan to come out swinging against presidential hopeful John McCain.

"I've been asked again and again for my response to the now infamous McCain celebrity ad. I actually have three responses," Hilton, 49, told the Huffington Post.

"It is a complete waste of the money John McCain's contributors have donated to his campaign," she said. "It is a complete waste of the country's time and attention at the very moment when millions of people are losing their homes and their jobs. And it is a completely frivolous way to choose the next President of the United States."

McCain came under fire last week for the campaign ad which features images of Hilton's famous daughter, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Barack Obama with a voiceover that says, "He's the biggest celebrity in the world. But is he ready to lead?"

Kathy and her husband, Rick, collectively donated $4,600 to McCain's campaign, according to the Federal Election Commission Web site.

McCain's office has not apologized for the ad, but explained that they used images of Paris and Spears because they came up second and third in a search for the top three celebrities in the world.

Paris showed her own disdain for the ad on Thursday in a frosty statement released by her publicist: "Miss Hilton was neither asked, nor did she give permission, for the use of her likeness in the ad, and has no further comment."

Kathys publicist could not be reached for further comment.

botox galore. nature doesn't want you to be attractive at that age (you can't reproduce).

anyways did you guys catch the brian jennings interview with mahmoud a.?
on the daily show brian jennings hinted that our offense to mahmoud and Iran is mainly to support our military-industrial complex. and that Mahmoud was simply playing to his base when he says things like gays don't exist in Iran, very much like our politicians play to their base.

That wouldn't solve anything, I think criticizing him like this is already doing more damage than any lawsuit could.

anyway, shouldn't you be looking for a job

I will once I get my clothes, some money, and my class schedule for the fall semester. I don't have any "professional" clothes. Just some jeans, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. Don't worry, once September rolls around, I will be much more busy.

I think Obama is peaking at the wrong time.
The public will get tired of his holiness because of media overplay...
