I weigh 158lbs im abt 6ft (underweight according to my trainer friend)
im running 4 to 15 miles every other day (aiming for 30 today aug1.) [Not Boasting im working on a marathon)
im thinking maybe its my cardio thats keeping me small (i alternate with power lifting

would you be able to give me any kind of advice on gaining mass ? any changes you would do ?

Heavy weights, low reps.
To lean up:
Medium weights, high reps.
Why do you want to get bigger? You can stay strong and not look like a meat head.

Genetics help.

Underweight? WTF!
I recommend tracking your Body Mass Index (BMI).

Also, instead of running long distance every time you do cardio, try running sprints or do some type of cardio where you have to exert high energy in short intervals. This will put size on your legs and core area. Work with a heavy ball and ankle weights while doing it helps.

I would put on the weight, i tried, i can't.
so i gave up, mejor para mi. I just run, and play soccer now to help keep my stamina.
if i did get big i wouldn't be able to fit into my skinny jeans
and all the slim clothing i've accumulated over the years.
can you imagine a rocker on stage with a GYM t-shirt struggling to keep his pecks and arms under restraints. you know the type who swings the whole torso when they walk. just the though....scandalous.
plus, usually doesn't all that muscle turn into fat, when you don't keep up with the routine.
Goldos.....

Yeah all the muscle does turn to fat once you stop working out.

OMG! Muscle does NOT turn into fat! They are two separate elements of your body.
Fat does cover up your muscles, i.e. - your abs.

No it doesn't, your muscle cells get smaller.

i just want to put on size. with my size i doubt i could look like a meat head but then again im not trying to get HUUGE just put on another inch around the bicepts.
i was talking to this guy @ gnc and i was looking at this new muscletech 'halo' product, at first i thought it was retarted and all that and then i got all this info from this guy. well longstory short i was convinced i needed to consume more breads, pasta... you know carbs and all that and i needed something else. so now im thinking about doing a cycle of heavy creatine (halo) tons of protein, and testosterone. im fixing to complete my first month on CE2 (ethyl ester creatine) and on my 2nd month im gonna do the 'death by campos' quick fix. then take a month off and then complete the following 2 months on the testosterone, halo and the usual protein.
i did freak out about the suggestion by the gnc guy to take testosterone but the more i think about it the more i want to try it.
anybody got any horror stories about the testosterone deal ?
as far as i know the main side effect would be aggression (which should be good in the weight room)

It doesn't turn to fat but it gets smaller and thus you look like you have more fat. Obviously I'm a little bit smarter than to think that muscle cells magically turn into fat cells. It is just a figure of speech that aptly describes someone's appearance when they go from lifting heavy weights to sitting on their ass.

Alright I have to comment on this. As a minor disclaimer I am not a fitness trainer or an expert on pro-hormones. The following advice relates only my personal experience/results which may and probably will vary from person to person. With that said, Pro-Hormones are how I went from being 6'3 at 160lbs to 200lbs in less than 2 months back in 2004. Alongside this I was consuming Cytogainer 3 times a day working an overnight stocker job that dealt with ALOT of freight weighing 50 to 90lbs, 8 hours a night.
I'm neither recommending nor discouraging the use of pro-hormones simply because its very easy to want to take more to speed up results, or continue to take them past their recommended cycle. What I have done was follow the instructions on the product-in-question down to the T. On the off-cycle you want to take an anti-estrogen complex like 6-Oxo or Nolvadex (prescription). If you take them properly, the only side-effect you will probably notice is increased aggression.
The only reason I ever considered this option, was because I am in the 'hard gainer' category. This means I can eat a ton, work out a whole lot..and stay skinny. It sucked because one of the reasons I joined the Marines was to get bigger.
Alot of the good ones have been taken off the market. When I started in 2004, the product that caused the rapid gains was called M-1-T or methylene-1-testosterone. This one was pretty much a legal form of steroids in pill form. Congress canned it and other products within a year. Then I used something called Pro-Magnun from 2005 to 2007.
The ones I use now came as a bundle pack from bulknutrition.com. For the on cycle its 1-andro-sterone[b] stacked with [b]4-AD. On the off-cycle its Arom-X. Still taking Cyctogainer as well as a balanced diet. I work in high rise construction..and it helps.
I would highly recommend to anyone considering getting into this shit to do alot of research on the different products. ALWAYS stick to the instructions and use an anti-estrogen on off-cycles. In other words...don't be part of the reason the product gets banned.

Just a side bar from the old guy lurking in the corner...
The older you get the harder it is to get fit.

now, however (35) after taking a piss and not caring (240 now), I am trying to get back into shape and let me tell you, its fucking hard....
just follow a good routine, the one posted above sounds choice and take critical advice on your gains and losses and never stop living a healthy lifestyle.....
just some advice from an old fat fart
