Anthony Robbins Self-Help Guru Vs. House Music

This is a little long winded, but bear with me.

Last weekend I attended the famous self-help guru Anthony Robbin's The Power Within series.

I'm not a big "rah rah come to Jesus" kind of guy, but I've always believed in taking the positive and optimistic road when tackling problems, whether they be business or personal issues. It always helps to keep yourself in check by reading these kind of books, listening to audio tapes or attending courses like this. That being said, I'm always a bit of a dissenter to 'fake' positivity. I think it lacks integrity and sets up people for ultimate failure and true disappointment.

It was with this kind of attitude I hit up Anthony Robbin's course. It was INTENSE. I sat down Friday at 1pm to start the course, and didn't leave the Metro Convention Centre until 2 am. The following three days were no less intense. The first night ended with the vast majority of attendees (some 3000 people) doing a "Firewalk" -- walking across hot burning coals in bare feet (apparently using the power of self-determination and focus. Google firewalking for the science behind it).

I can tell you, regardless of the science, it still takes a lot of ballz to get your ass across those coals. Especially when they heap a fresh burning pile onto the walk right before your turn.

What I found very interesting about the sessions specifically was how Athony Robbins CONSTANTLY hyped up the crowd. every 30 or 40 minutes, he would turn the room into a dance club, complete with intelligent lighting, and get the crowd up to dance and cheer as loud as possible. The energy and the adrenaline in the room was very high. The feeling was VERY familiar. It was the feeling that I experienced any time I went out to a club and heard that killer drop that made me scream "yeaaaaaah!" at the DJ. It was also the feeling I got throwing that favourite set on in my car. Or listening to some killer beats at work and getting pumped up.

The funny thing is, we house music lovers experience this rush, this energizing feeling, every single day. That energy transfers to our bodies. Without chemical enhancement, there is increased blood flow, higher oxygen levels, more serotonin, increased oxygen and dopamine levels in the brain. Our overall presence and productivity increases.

Tony Robbins was using this same sort of feeling to emotionally charge up his audience to teach them to be more empowered and more productive. Smarter, more energetic, more motivated and thus (of course!) more successful.

We already found the secret! We do it all the time!

Nothing pumps me up like the music in this scene does, and I guarantee you that by listening to the music on a daily basis we are happier, more charged and more productive people because of our passion in the music.

Now let's bottle this all up and sell it for $1500 a ticket.

$1500 was the VIP package, regular tickets went for as "little" as $700. I actually do recommend others going. We're looking into a similar event for Leap_Frog and I both to go to together. I did this oen solo It was a fantastic experienced, and really forced me to do some positive and constructive introspection.

Ownen M: Yeah man, right at the base of the CN Tower, 14 fire lanes and some 3000 people. What an experience!

One of the best parts is when this little indian man turned to me during a hype up and said "This is quite the par-tee, eh?" LOL!

The idea with power within is that you generate that rush...from within. Not from house music or anything else that's external.

Yes--agreed. And I think many of those in the conference take it away and make it last. But i think the majority of those in the conference take it away and can't carry it.

Personally, I need a catalyst. Something that resonates within me. Music is that catalyst, and I'm ok with that. That being said, when need be, that power/rush/energy is always there within if I need it, even without music...but boy is it easier when a sic drop comes.

Using juxtaposition, it's clear that when Nathan puts his hands together like that he's channeling the motivational power of Tony Robbins which allows him to spin while standing on hot coals and still maintaining flawless transitions.

Jokes aside, Tony is very good at what he does and those that balk at it likely never had the patience to go through a seminar/book/audio book.

you mean pills bro? lets admit it the only rush/power/energy you have within is when you're starring at tony robbins triceps.

You need an oversized goon like tony to motivate you? The only thing that gets him up in the morning is the fact you're giving him your 2 thou that day to walk on coal and feel like you're in control for 5 secs. Then once you walk out that door its back to getting your lunch tray flipped and your chocolate milk spilt. take that 2 thou and get a large black male hooker if you want to find the giant within hahah

In my original post, I did qualify it as chem free, but I'm sure those wanting the instant power within can pop a few pills. Maybe Tony carries a line? (order now! supplies are running out!) We've all seen some particularly muscular guys on the dance floors that are discovering the 'giant within' completely through the use of "supplements"

Oh yeah, it's definitely a business. The calculator was going nuts in my head as I looked around at the some 3000 people. In the hall way they have DVDs, t-shirts, keychains and anything else you can think of to sell as sundries.

But you get whatever you want out of it. If it's back to the old Vivid Boy getting picked on and beat up in the lunch room after...well...that's just a waste of 2 thou.
