i think your right.. 5hrs is too short.

5 hours!?!! sorry, more like 2.5. by the time they turned up the speakers so it didn't sound like i was listening to my stereo in my room, it was 2:00, and we were off the boat by 4:30. lame!

desyn can take a water taxi next time he decides to not show up on time. if you're getting paid to be there, BE THERE. there are 2 other djs who could have gone on without him, but - oh wait - i couldn't even hear them until after we actually started moving. we could have totally left an hour earlier. i still had fun, but MEH. defo not worth 50 bones.

as for the music, meh. at least i saw them in miami in 2006, cos that didn't impress me all. edit: scratch that, i meant 2007.

5 hours?? wtf you talking about? This was barely 4 hours. Extremely disappointed. I know they were waiting for Masiello but that's no excuse. Start the cruise and just water taxi his ass to the boat. There's supposed to be one next year but after having to wait like an hour to get started last year, and then this years ridiculous delay, I really doubt I'll be eager to attend.

Definitely not worth the 50 bucks I paid for this. Music was good for the most part but not good enough to make up for the money put down, especially when taking cruise length into account (like 2.5 hours or something??? pfft!)

Posted by MKpacha on Aug-03-2008 23:18:

left the harbour @ 2, music didnt get loud till 2:20, docked at 4:20, wtf?

needs a new boat also.

it was good while it lasted but way too freaking short.

cost way too much for what we got....

i expected more from being on the demi cruise last year.

ps. i hope it was recorded....just so i can hear what they were playing again.

Not to be an asshole but they should've recorded it and start mailing it to everyone that was on that cruise, with a formal apology. It's one thing to be late to a gig in a club, but when your time is limited because it's a cruise there should be no excuses.

i wasn't there. thank god.

any idea on the reason desyn was late..?

did the promoters make any attempt to make it up to the people who paid for this..?

Posted by Shaya007 on Aug-04-2008 00:15:

maybe he has "chronic fatigue" again.

Posted by Rook on Aug-04-2008 00:26:

yah really.. last time he was supposed to be here he never ended up playing for whatever reason. Based on that fact alone, he should have been there half an hour early, and made sure that he made up for last time.

Wow.

Depart the dock at 1:45...return to it at 4:20. With negligable volume prior to departure.

So that's 2:35 for $50.

Hmmmmmm.... seems to me that something's very f u cking wrong with that.

Look guys, either start the cruise earlier (i.e. 10ish) & go to the 4:20 dock so they can clean up; leave on time (no matter who's on the damn boat!), or stop fu ckin doin it.

B/c if nothing changes for Kaskade on the 17th, that'll be my last Beats Ahoy biz. (I probably wouldn't go if I hadn't already bought my tickets).

& Now for the review!:

Holy balls!!!!!! for that 2:35, my ears received nothing but bliss! Great friends, great tunes, great times. In spite of being fleeced like a bourbon drunk at the Kentucky Derby.

P.S. - I don't have this confirmed by others (aside from the person I talked to) on that boat, but the Amigos cruise was still goin at 5:30 & left the dick at 12:30... if this is true, that means it can be done propperly.

Posted by DigiNut on Aug-04-2008 01:08:

So we left the dock over 2 hours late, and they decided to dock almost an hour early. Without any sort of explanation.

SOS played some good tunes (not their best set ever, but good), but quite frankly I feel ripped off. I'm expecting a formal apology as well.

Agreed.

Being my first boat cruise, I was VERY disappointed with how short it was.

On a plus note, Happy Birthday Rachel! Being with great friends really made the day.

PS. Nice talking to you Jamie.

Apologies. I'm aware of that now. Beer + sun will do that to a man.

Either way.... today's cruise bore eerie similarities to Canada Day's cruise, primarly the late departure (although it didn't quite leave as late as this one) & the severely early return.

So let's just go with this then:

If you're going to organize a boat cruise, ensure that your supporters/patrons/attendees/fan/&whateverthehellelsethey'recalled people get their money's worth. & if that means pulling off the dock right at whatever-friggin-time it says on the ticket, so be it.

man o man am I glad I didn't go to this event. Sounds shambolic at best.

Posted by samhouse on Aug-04-2008 06:14:

what a shame :/
musicallly this had some serious potential!!!!

sort of glad i didn't dish out the cash for this one.

exsqeeze me? the cruise today was not one of ours.. and all of our cruises have been on the water for a min 4 hours... except canada day which was late leaving dock, but also came back later.. in the end we only only lost 10 mins.

The May cruise was on the water for over 4.25 hours

the howells cruise last year was on the water for almost 5 hours.. I think it was about 4 and 45 mins.

the may cruise last year was on the water for 4.5 hours

That being said, shitty that the departure was delayed, but sometimes shit happens... and the promoter is at the mercy of the captain of the boat. If he won't stay out later, there is absolutely nothing the promoter can do about it.

Canada Day left late because of people (partiers) showing up late. Normally I would leave, but when it's a steady stream of people casually walking up there's not much you can do about it. You just suddenly start telling people that are there at the dock and who have paid for tickets that even though the boat is still there, they can't come on and you're leaving them there at the dock.

Beautiful weather

Very upset that 70 of my friends paid $50 bucks for what I think was 1.5 hours of music. The FULL volume of music only went from 2.30 - 4. Lame. And very upsetting.

Thank you though, everyone, being with friends made me *almost* not notice the lack of party.

I am one hell of a lucky girlie

"the show must go on"

Well I can understand why the boat couldn't stay later than what was first negotiated. a promoter isnt in any position to get the captain and the crew to stay later esp at the last moment.

What I dont understand is why didnt the boat take off at 1pm.
There was 2 very capable Dj's on board.
Isnt there a saying for this "the show must go on"

anyways if i had a time machine i wouldn't have done up the boat cruise and just hit up the Docks for Demi and Omid 16b and a really good soundsystem as opposed to the distortion on the boat

the party at the docks saved the day for me

I think you meant Omid 16b
