iTunes, podcasts, and RSS feeds

I'm just trying to figure out how exactly I get my podcast into the itunes music store...

I've made the podcast
I've got the music file on a server
i think I've written the XML code correctly. I'm not 100% sure, but I think its ok

now I'm just trying to figure out how to put the XML i've written onto a server, thus turning it into an RSS feed??

help would be most appreciated.

Have you put the music file on your own hosting, or is it on something like rapidshare etc?

If it's on your own hosting, surely the easiest thing is just to upload the XML file to the same hosting in the same way that you uploaded your music file.

Then fire up iTunes, go to the store, go to the Podcast bit, click "submit podcast" or whatever it is, then enter the web path to your XML file and away you go...

I feel like that sounds easy enough.. here is my problem...

the person I had put the mp3 on the server (the link to that needs to be included in the XLR) told me that he doesn't know how to put the code on the server in the sense that... what does he put it up as. It's not an mp3, or a gif, or a jpg or whatever. It's just written code. What do I put it up as? does that make sense?

Save the code as a text file then rename it to have a .rss extention (doesn't actually have to be .rss, but that tends to be the accepted norm). Easiest way to make sure you do this right is open up notepad (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Notepad) then copy and paste your XML code in there. Then go File -> Save As. Where it says "Save as Type", select "All Files" from the drop down box, then type the filename in as "feed.rss" or similar then save it wherever you like.

Then tell your monkey to upload that file to the same place he uploaded the mp3 to
