Taste of the Danforth 2008!

Well its my favourite time of the year...

TASTE OF THE DANFORTH

FRIDAY: 6 � 11 PM
SATURDAY: NOON � 11 PM
SUNDAY: NOON � 8 PM

Our first year saw 5,000 people attend the event, with rain one day and a scorching sun the second. Only 23 restaurateurs participated that first year, selling an eclectic mix of spectacular "tastes" from tasting tables outside. But everyone felt good about what they were doing.

After the first year, a thorough analysis of Toronto's weather led us to move the event to the second weekend of August. The number of attendees swelled to 100,000. By the end of the third year, the City agreed to a partial closure of the Danforth-and the crowds grew to 500,000! The Danforth has been closed during the Krinos Taste of the Danforth for the complete weekend ever since 1997, with the support of the City of Toronto and Toronto Police Service's Divisions 55 and 54.

Today, over 1 million people attend the annual event, coming from Ontario, Quebec the northern USA, and around the world. They come for the food, the entertainment, and the atmosphere.

Who else is going? I'm already starting to salivate at the thought of Greek hmmmm....

while it was fun last year, overall it's a pathetic attempt really

they narrowed the food down to souvlaki on a stick - whoopty fucking doo! what happened to everything else? what about awesome Greek sweets?

You just gotta know when/where to go.

There was one whole booth that only sold sweets! You just gotta keep your eye out.

for the size of that festival they needed much more variety

those carriages are the size of SUVs too and when they "accidently" run in to you there goes your leg.

Glad other people agree. Give me a break "one Toronto's signature evnets". The sad thing is it seems toronto tourism wants to promote "Toronto the Boring". And masses of sheep go down to the danforth and just follow the herd back and forth.

Taste of Danforth is only good if you get a good group of friends together to sit on patio and get wasted.

Well with the rain expected for the weekend, at least the sovlaki on a stick won't be dry.

I think I'll go on Saturday this year though after the Festival of Beer on my way home for some food.
