Need tips from a seasoned producer.

I really like orchestra instruments, in particular classical movie type stuff. I was wondering how hard they are to incorporate in a tune, and what would be the best way to go about doing it? I'm using Ableton 7. I've provided a link below if you would like to hear the type of orchestra sound I'm trying to capture.

Also have a question about vocal production.

I was just wondering what the thought process is when you're making a vocal track. Do you want to have all the vocal recordings done first before you even start with the track, or do you want to finish the track first and then record the vocals that way you can build your vocals around the trap.

I don't know if what I said above makes any sense...I'm just wondering what the thought process is when creating a vocal tune. (Just generalize, I know every situation is different).

Thanks A TON in advance

that sample sounds like a pad to me mate... no orchestral stuff there... i myself am playing french-horn and trumpet, and their not that difficult to incorporate in a track if you have a general idea of where to put them...

regarding a vocal tune, ill usually lay down basic chords and beats and have the lyrics ready and then record...

btw i think this question should be at the production forum...

First some tips for your track:
- Don't use that offbeat bassline, it sounds really outdated. Lower it to make it a subbass and put a higher bass on it.
- I think the 'string' you used a type of bowed string from a rompler, I don't really like it in the track.
- The track sounds kink of repetitive, there are not much changing elements in them.

The track reminds me (except the breaks) to Jonah - Sssst....

I think it really needs some work.

For the other things. There are lots of trance songs that use symphonical samples. Listen to them on how they did it, it's really good sounding when you do it wel.

And about vocals, there are several ways of approaching them. U can do, as vortex said, create some standard chords for it and then record the vocals. I know that a friend of mine, which is a hiphop producer, makes a 30 second sample of a track, creates vocals for it and than adjust the track to the vocals. The other way ofcourse is to come up with some vocal lines and then create the track. I only worked with vocals which are given up for remix so I haven't had any vocal tracks myself.

Good luck with all this...

Sorry, the track I posted isn't mine. It was on one of Tiesto's albums. I only used it to try and give an idea as to what type of orchestral sound I'm looking for.

Thanks for your help though. And as the above poster said this should probably be in the production forum. Sorry bout that
