No Freeland reviews from FW?

Just wondering how it was...

I can't say he's among my faves, particuarly in recent years, but wondering who went and what type of set he played. good? meh?

Posted by LKD on Aug-11-2008 22:35:

fuckin awesome...gotta love how he dropped the tempo midway and came right back up....as much as everyone loves his mixes of ac/dc, doors etc, he couldve stayed away from those...its getting a bit old...overall tho yes he did a kick ass job...cant expect anything less..

Posted by samhouse on Aug-11-2008 22:53:

ac/dc and the doors NEVER gets old!!!

i heard he was good from a couple of people on the boat. better than good infact.

memorable tunes played:

Evil Nine - Crooked
We Want Your Soul accapella
Hate (mashed with something else)

crap..there were a few others that made me go "omg wtfbbq" and just cant remember which...

well, that's good to hear...glad it went well. hopefully it will encourage more breaks bookings and this tech house stranglehold on the city will lessen

anyone hitting up Circa on Friday?

Beat Freakers + Atomic Hooligan, among others.

(still trying to figure out if AH is actually on the bill. flyer in the event forum says yes...but the flyer on Circa's site is identical, except that AH isn't listed).

I love the Beat Freakers. Friday nights are more than a little iffy though, I'm already dog tired by the time I walk in the door. We'll see.

sad isnt it? this scene could be so much more varied (well the pop side of things)

PS. at least his hair doesnt get in his way when he bobs his head...so i guess its ok..lol

Didn't particularly enjoy his set, as it was all over the place, but I did like some aspects. Lots of varied breaks; the progressive inspired tracks that he dropped with some killer melodies was just awesome. He played really short too. Just about 2 hrs if not shorter. The deejay who came on afterwards ruined a lot of my favourite late 90s house gems by playing horrid remixes.

^ lame i didn't see you there!

I am of a very similar opinion as Cribby. I had been wanting to see Freeland again for some time, but I was not truly impressed. The beginning of his set was great. I had been looking forward to this night since I saw he was coming, but then as he continued through his set, he lost me. I felt like I was in a rock concert.

On a positive note, I am pleased that it was a different sound then is normally played throughout the city... but I can not say it was exactly what I was looking for that night.

Footwork still kicks ass though for bringing in the talent.

now if only Evan brought in Kid Kenobi......
