Why is it that...
when someone mentions OCD that people automatically assume they are clean freaks?
This was sparked when I was waiting for the office to get opened this morning, and someone passing was talking to a coworker and he called her OCD. Her first reaction was, "How am I ocd? Have you seen my desk?!"

i'm convinced i have some mild form of it and i'm not really a neat freak in the least bit. i mean, my place is pretty clean for the most part but i'm not one of those, "OMG! DISHES IN THE SINK OMGOMG" lol
i'm kind of secretly neurotic about really small things like papers in envelopes being perfectly lined up before i put them in... and my guy has 2 tables that go together as one for a coffee table and his roommate pointed out to me the other day that i always make them perfectly aligned together if i see that they aren't when i go over there lol. so just stupid stuff like that i'm ocd about.
oh and when i was little i was really nuts about not steping on cracks or stepping in the exact center of a tile repeatedly when i walked. i dont do that any more though.
i dont even know if that's real OCD but it seems like it to me.

some people have an OCD related to spitting..i don't know about you, but when people spit on the floor inside the house it is fucking dirty...like ben and his jew beard.
omg u just reminded me of a funny erowid story i read a long time ago about a guy who had a difficult experience with 2pcp or di 028rlxjgfkja lol one of those fucking weird acidy-lab drugs and he was spitting on his own walls and his friend was like, "DUDE! stop spitting on the walls" so he spit on the floor and was like, "what? i spit on the floor" and then he picked up a spoon and put it in his mouth and attempted to light it and smoke it

| The typical OCD sufferer performs tasks (or compulsions) to seek relief from obsession-related anxiety. To others, these tasks may appear odd and unnecessary. But for the sufferer, such tasks can feel critically important, and must be performed in particular ways to ward off dire consequences and to stop the stress from building up. Examples of these tasks are repeatedly checking that one's parked car has been locked before leaving it, turning lights on and off a set number of times before exiting a room, repeatedly washing hands at regular intervals throughout the day, touching objects a certain amount of times before leaving a room, or walking in a certain routine way. Physical symptoms may include those brought on from anxeties and unwanted thoughts, as well as tics or Parkinson's disease-like symptoms: rigidity, tremor, jerking arm movements, or involuntary movements of the limbs. |

I have quite a few OCD tendencies. My girlfriend and I had a discussion about this the other day actually; I'd mentioned that I used to do a lot of weird stuff when I was a kid and that I rarely exhibited any tendencies now, but for the rest of the day following that conversation I noticed just how many subtle things I did.
Kinda weird.
