you have been running into the wrong people. those are the guys who continuly whine that their roster sucks, one player didn't try too hard, they needed a certain number of yards about my team.... me me me!

there are others who take fantasy football as an advantage to see who are the up and comers in the rest of league outside of their local networks. i would love to see how teams like san diego, seattle, washington, and philadelphia are doing rather than dallas and houston all the time.

also there are others who use fantasy football as a strategy game. how to shift players around to maximize your team points.

I've never played in the same league twice (not even in the same city, actually) - and all four seasons I played the league was littered with people who took fantasy football way, way too seriously.

Maybe there are folks out there who aren't like that, but it's going to be hard for anyone to even get me to give it another chance as I've heard the "We're not like the others" response 3 times before.

i've been doing that for 10+ years, and i have run into a whole lot of leagues where people took it too seriously. sometimes it's fun to poke at their obsession, and sometimes it's best to just ignore that and let them bask in their glory. hasn't stopped me from playing.

to tell you the truth, if i didn't do fantasy football, i wouldn't be interested in what's going on in the NFC West, AFC North, and NFC North.

Well I'm not sure what you mean by "too seriously" - but fantasy football does turn me into a fan of players and teams I might not otherwise cheer for. Instead of watching a Giants/Dolphins game with a bored expression on my face for three hours, I can at least cheer for Ronnie Brown or something. Don't get me wrong, I'm a football purist and I watch for the strategy predominantly, but fantasy football gives me another dimension to being a fan of the game.

Yeah - I am not that way at all. I just like football, so I have no problem wasting 9 hours of my Sunday watching whatever happens to be airing in my market regardless of division (though even I can't stomach games between two terrible teams unless there's actually something on the line).

Edit: And by "too seriously", I mean that their priorities for 8 months of the year run:

1. Fantasy Football.
2. Anything else I might have time for.

Oh, I'd watch anyway since I always have - but now it gives me something than a passive interest in the gameplay.

Yeah, that's just weird.

On another note my favorite thing about graduating and not playing football anymore is having my Saturdays free to watch college games all day long... hadn't been able to do that since high school!

Yeah. I think we should probably just end this with "RJT doesn't like 90% of people who play fantasy football, and the promise of making bad games slightly more interesting does not increase his tolerance for them."

It's ok, you just can't bear the thought of having to potentially cheer for the Jets.
