Texas school district to let teachers carry guns
Gangsta ass teachers
good or bad idea? what does the c0r say?
HOUSTON (Reuters) - A Texas school district will let teachers bring guns to class this fall, the district's superintendent said on Friday, in what experts said appeared to be a first in the United States.
The board of the small rural Harrold Independent School District unanimously approved the plan and parents have not objected, said the district's superintendent, David Thweatt.
School experts backed Thweatt's claim that Harrold, a system of about 110 students 150 miles northwest of Fort Worth, may be the first to let teachers bring guns to the classroom.
Thweatt said it is a matter of safety.
"We have a lock-down situation, we have cameras, but the question we had to answer is, 'What if somebody gets in? What are we going to do?" he said. "It's just common sense."
Teachers who wish to bring guns will have to be certified to carry a concealed handgun in Texas and get crisis training and permission from school officials, he said.
Recent school shootings in the United States have prompted some calls for school officials to allow students and teachers to carry legally concealed weapons into classrooms.
The U.S. Congress once barred guns at schools nationwide, but the U.S. Supreme Court struck the law down, although state and local communities could adopt their own laws. Texas bars guns at schools without the school's permission.

More guns for students to get their hands on. US gun laws ![]()
lol, oh texas
Wtf, that's retarded
Sure... this will help with violence
I hope there is a shoot-out and a couple of people die... Just so that the school district board gets fired.
Way to solve gun problems: More guns.
I love it. Now the UT system just needs to start letting students with CHLs carry on campus.
awesome. go texas
Can the US get more retarded? Apparently yes

I'd much rather have a teacher blast the brains out of some psycho shooter than have that shooter kill a bunch of people while everybody runs around and screams helplessly.
It works pretty well in Israel.
You can all thank my school as being part of why this probably got enacted, along with VTech.
I'm not strongly pro or anti gun use and ownership, but a school is one place firearms shouldn't be. Simple as that.

To say that an entire country (which might aswell be divided into four or five equal parts - each sharing different traditions, laws and even different accents) is unimpressive. |
You went on a completely different tangent. I called your attention because I read "typical-common-middle class European Anti-American insult" and I thought that maybe you had something more productive or engaging to say. But no, you went on the "preaching morals" tangent and you began talking about "change" and "people have the power"
No, thanks.

While I agree on your points, it's your people who shape your nation. Want it or not, but the world judges you as a nation together, not as individuals. Especially in cases such as this. You have the power to change it yet many of you refuse to do so and then complain when the rest of the world gets on your ass about it. Stop wasting time complaining about how it's your "bad apples" and go actually do something about it. |

| Originally posted by Fledz Of course they did and still do, but that's more to do with corruption. We have some of the worst corruption levels in the world which is why it's tough to change things but they are getting better. The problem is the country is relatively new (in terms of independence) and is still in a phase of rebuilding. The issues between Croatia and the US are fundamentally so different though that they are incomparable. We're talking apples and oranges here and it's blatantly clear what a cheap shot that is, which by the way was a bad way to approach things |

Well the man wanted a serious reply. There it was
Fledz, there is very little that individuals can do to change some of the major problems. In economics it boils down to adapting to the current state and politically there's nothing more important than to encourage people to vote.
I think the main issues such as Oil Prices, are issues that average citizens can do very little about.imo.
This matter obviously can't be resolved by mere words on the internet.
Gentlemen, I propose a duel to the death. You will meet tomorrow at the height of noon, in my backyard. BYO swords and beer.
Light refreshments will be served.

Agreed to a degree, but individuals choose the people that govern them (in most cases). That's an entirely different discussion in itself though.
EDIT - Fosters...yuck. Why would you make a beer "fruity"
in my opinion, what incon was trying to demonstrate was an unintentional contradiction you made between the two statements. On the 1st one you described politicians as "well-behaved" and then you said that in your own country they were regarded as criminals.
So in other words, you wanted me to 'take the suit off' and become a 'crook'
