Michael Phelps best Olympian ever...
This is his 7th gold medal of the Beijing Games, and he won by just .01 seconds. Watch the video and see just how close it was. The Serbian coach actually filed an appeal to the technical committee. Phelps is the top, and to the naked eye, it doesn't look like he wins, but he does..
Is he the Dragonball Z guy? I didn't watch the vid

| Originally posted by Krypton He's won more gold medals than any other Olympian ever. In Beijing, he's currently won 7/7 of his events, at repeatedly world record times, and tomorrow he competes for his last race, in which he could win his 8th gold medal. This would be the most gold medals of any athlete in one Olympics ever. The guy is superman. |

yeah its crazy down here in bammatown right now.theve even approved for his last race to be shown on the baltimore ravens mega screen in the stadium here.what a finish though.its the kind of thing around here that people will talk about forever along with "ol johnny u" and "the colts movin in the night" and "the ravins winnin the souperbowl hon!"
best of luck to phelps though.lets hope he breaks the "baltimore curse" of people and teams from here or competing here comin up short.they say the ravens finally broke it in 2000 but people say the curse lives on because of what transpired after the victory.(ie the orioles, barbaros, big brown etc....
The "best Olympian ever" thing is so hyperbolic, it's disgusting. He has won more golds because he enters eight events every Games. I saw an interview with Kerri Walsh (beach volleyball) where she was saying that even though she and Misti May have won 104 matches in a row without losing, they can never win more than one Gold Medal in an Olympics so they'll never be considered as one of the Olympic greats even though they're arguably more dominant in their sport than Phelps ever could be.

BEIJING - Could everyone please stop hyperventilating about Michael Phelps? Yes, he now has won more gold medals than anyone in Olympic history. No, that does not make him the greatest Olympic athlete in history. In fact, he doesn't even make my top five. He is number six with a bullet, moving up the charts like a hot pop song. Ahead of him? 1. Carl Lewis, U.S., track and field. 2. Paavo Nurmi, Finland, track and field. 3. Larisa Latynina, Soviet Union, gymnastics. 4. Birgit Fischer-Schmidt, Germany, kayak. 5. Steven Redgrave, United Kingdom, rowing. Why is Phelps sixth? It is easy to win multiple medals in swimming. The sport is far more forgiving on the body than track or gymnastics. And Phelps does not yet have the long-term record of the others. Lewis won nine gold medals, four in the 1984 Olympics and four straight in one event, the long jump. Nurmi won nine gold medals at distances from 1,500 to 10,000 meters over three Olympics. He likely would have won more had he not been declared ineligible after 1928 under rules that demanded Olympians be amateurs. Latynina won nine gold medals and 18 total medals over three Olympics. Fischer-Schmidt won her first of eight gold medals in 1980 and her last 24 years later as a 42-year-old mother of two. She won three for the old East Germany and five for the unified Germany. She won in singles, doubles and fours. She also won four silvers. Redgrave won gold medals in five consecutive Olympics while rowing in three different boat types. |

I watched that on replay with my dad about 20 times last night
UNBELIEVABLE
Wow... that's what I was thinking too: how can one argue against time? The facts are the facts. The eastern european in me, however, did feel for Mr. Milorad Cavic during the medal ceremony. He almost started twitching when the Star-Spangled Banner came on lol
wait, you felt a little of Milorad in you?
