Screen, dude take it easy. If you don't like Irene, just as I don't, then so be it. But a new club is going off in a new city and trying to extend the EDM scene in Corpus (Edit, I said Dallas in the original post. Jack Daniels is kicking in).

Good luck to STARZ. CC could have potential for expanding the music. Hit me up with a private message if you want any suggestions of good DJ's that won't be totally outrageous in price.

i'll tell you this, building a club from the ground up, using your own money over the course of two months isn't easy, or cheap. we had a leftover budget for talent but deffinitely not big enough to bring the talent thats on the 77002 site.. besides.. we aren't working with a scene as big as houston.. we could only hope to get 250 people that are interested in EDM in Corpus Christi.. but we will sure as hell try!

Check out the 77002.com page. The talent they bring are actually half way decent. It gives you an idea of popular talent that is currently in circulation.

I would not suggest a grand opening of a club with wing ding talent. Then again i have no idea what your budget is and what you can afford.

You meant Disco Donnie. Not sure he would be willing to hand out contracts to a city as small as Corpus. He barely lets us get any contracts here in SA and we're a lot bigger than CC.

I can see why though since I'm sure everytime he lets a good headliner come to San Antonio they probably complain about how much the venue/sound/lighting/crowd/etc... sucked ass.

I agree with this ^^^ Jotz.

+1. i have to say bring respectable talent or dont man. cos the last thing id like to see is people trying to follow the irene style and image or the richard vission sound. besides those peeps are former moonshine artists whom most ppl dont really care for. last time i saw micro he sounded like teh mau5. wh4ck !

It may not be the style that you like, but it's still electronic and can change if needed.

Man, whatever happened to the love in our scene. Some people talking bad, cause it's not exactly what they want as far as talent. I'm truly sorry you disapprove, but I am busting my ass trying to get this place open & do something in a town with almost NO scene at all. If you don't like the talent, of course you dont have to come. But why bash my efforts and talk shit like that. I'm doing what I can to get started, later we will bring in bigger & better talent. Now, I am using favors & connections as best I can to get open & get some decent dj's here where none have EVER played. We have never had big headliners, and this is just the start. Thanx for your opinion, I will take it as constructive critisism. Instead of the bashing it seems to be.

To the rest of you, thank you very much for your support.

Posted by progress on Aug-21-2008 02:35:

Hint. Don't respond to people when they do this.

Posted by STARZnightclub on Aug-21-2008 03:05:

yes, your right. I should not give them the satisfaction of a response. It just really bugs me when you get shit on by people you don't know, especially when you are trying so hard to do something good. I do apologize for my rant, and wish everyone well.

Hey were glad you really are supporting the EDM scene and trying to make it larger and reach it out to more people. Done let what some of us say scare you off the forum as far as posting your events on here. We all talk shit and some of us a lot of it, just take it with a grain of salt and keep moving forward.

You can PM myself, Jonas, Schwab, Dave M. as far as maybe asking who we think you should bring in

Also If you are on a tight budget and only expecting 250 people to show up Irene may have not been a safe bet since the ratio of how much she is to how many people your gonna have is not that good.

There are other dj's out there were you will have a much better ratio and still very quality talent.

Thanks for supporting the scene.

You can up your chances by exploiting common knowledge of irene. Like she's a flaming dike so you'd think she wants more skanks. School girl theme the show. It seemed to come over well out here.

The last mix cd I heard irene mix I rmbr hearing planet perfectos 'bullit in the gun' mixed with musak by trisco. Epic fail.

That's a good idea. The show would be a fail so epic...it could possibly be a win.

Schoolgoil outfits also equals win.

Yea. I've always noticed the school girl deal works the best. The demons and angels shit is cool but I've never seen it hit anywhere as big as the school girl thing. I had skanks I used 2 know that knew nothing abt electronic music. They would go 2 a show just to dress like a school girl and come out not knowing wtf they listened to but in the end they had a blast. Its crazy how it works and how it increases the city std rate.

Posted by STARZnightclub on Aug-22-2008 12:30:

thanx for all your help & support. we do have a few things in the works for later on, we are just getting rolling with this venture.
we would like to get booking info for all dj's out there in Texas, we plan on bringing in Texas talent every week to show our peeps whats out there in other cities as well. I will also be glad to put up flyers for your events and help promote them in Corpus. Alot of our headz go out of town for some of the bigger events, so feel free to contact me and get me flyers, or your contact info for booking the dj's

Thanx again,

Oh, and I like the schoolgirl thing too!!! lol

I just want to say good job at funding your own events for EDM. When I was in Corpus, it was hard to bring in a crowd for dance music. The times that I did play though, I had lots of fun, no matter what size of crowd. I don't know if that is an actual pic of your dj set-up, but at least you have an allen & heath!

I know some peeps still remember me from that way, but good luck to you in that area.

For the Frankie Bones night, I would get Fuze to play also. Just a thought.
