Low Frequency Oscillator.

Check out this tutorial if you don't know what they are or how to use them.

LFO's are very important in sound design, you would do well to learn how to use them.

lfo can for example control a filter-freq going up and down periodicale with the waveform u have selected on the lfo (sine is most normal).
then have another lfo controlling filter resonance at random waveform, run the audio thru a strong distortion and u have a win.

What I really like is having one LFO controlling the rate or amount of another LFO.

Or having two LFOs controlling the same parameter, but at different rates or with different wave shapes, so you get some neat patterns going.

Dude you gotta have LFO's can make a standard sound into anything from twisted ass lead to slippery pad or dreamy woosh noises.

Just made an example of multiple LFOs controlling the same parameter, the filter:

http://www.philosophaster.com/music...modulations.mp3

The first run through uses just one triangle-shaped LFO that repeats every four bars. You can hear the filter going from high cutoff, to low, back to high again.

The second run through adds a saw-pattern LFO at two-quarter-note speed (2/4), making the filter dip up and down within the larger rising and falling pattern.

The third run through adds a ramp-pattern LFO at one-quarter note speed (1/4), adding some more complexity to the pattern.

The last run adds a saw-pattern LFO at sixteenth-note speed, giving the filter movement a quick "wobbly" quality.

Four LFOs on one filter.

By the way, if you put my little demo in the sound stretcher tool and lengthen it out to twenty minutes, it sounds really beautiful.

you have signed tracks, but dont know what an lfo is or does. i am a little puzzled, preset city?

I agree although I had similar thread so it can happen!
