Pacha NYC debut of Italian superstar DJ MAURO PICOTTO - August 29th

Pacha NYC presents the debut of mega-Italian DJ MAURO PICOTTO at mega-club Pacha on Friday, August 29th, 2008 for an unforgettable night of his pulsating electronic grooves. This special NYC night heralds his new 2xCD compilation Mauro Picotto presents Meganite Ibiza, featuring many of his biggest hits to date with new remixes and edits by Mauro, his team of likeminded studio manipulators and others.

Italian techno titan Mauro Picotto launched his Meganite at Winter Music Conference back in 2002, which has since morphed into a self-fulfilling prophecy. The event has become a phenomenon, going from strength to strength, hosting nights all over the world and this year returning to Ibiza for its fifth successful year at Privilege, the Worlds Biggest Club. Meganite is the full and complete representation of Mauros desires. Its his people with his favorite DJs doing what they want to do, knowing its what the crowd wants too. This new compilation on the Big In Ibiza label represents just that, the music that makes Meganite, its DJs and Mauro Picotto so special.

Mauro Picotto presents Meganite Ibiza contains a live mix of exclusive cuts culled from Mauro's superb Alchemy label and a CD of mixes, remixes and new tracks from Mauro's illustrious career. Including the original mix of Iguana and a brand new remix of Lizard for 2008, two of the tracks which helped establish Mauros early career and propelled him onto the global dancefloor. This is where Mauro is in 2008 and as ever its on the cutting edge of electronic wizardry fused with pulsating infectious gyrating badass grooves.

I'd luv to hear Mauro play but as much as i would love to go, i am afraid of the steam room. my blood is too thick for that heat.
i will be considering but i doubt I'll go.

The sound at Pacha has improved which will be disappointing to miss hearing Mauro tear up.

ehhhh i kind of have a feeling he will bang it out
i dunno i think that room is good for him
but last 2 times i saw him he was only really on point his last hour
the rest was rubbish

Posted by Sandman1130 on Aug-20-2008 16:01:

hellll nooooooooo... did anyone hear what he played at webster hall that night? OMG it had to be the worst set ever. I think Mauro needs new tracks casue he is still playing the same ones from like 99 lol give it already.

Posted by phoenixBEBE on Aug-20-2008 16:05:

i used to LOVE Picotto back in the day. The last time I heard him spin was at System SoundBar in Toronto on my bday in March 2003. Yeah I've heard he's gone downhill. Too bad cuz his past Meganites in Miami sure sounded sick.

hmm just outta curiosity anyone have links to recent livesets of his?

yeah and Pacha gets waaay too hot

haha you couldnt PAY me to go see this guy. seriously, you know I see the best in everyone and rarely complain, but his set before sander at WH was the WORST thing my ears have ever encountered. He had the place CLEARED out by the time sander came on.

Mauro probably isn't used to Opening for a trance DJ. I could see him really destroying a headlining slot with proper techno.

He isn't the same Picotto he once was. I have tried to listen to him, but I just cannot do it. It is unfortunate, but what can you do.

hahaha it was horrible.. i remember standing there talkign to some friends like in shock that he was so bad and still has not changed what he played at all.. Its the same tracks all he time. I think its time to put away his collection and look for a new one. Your right to by the time sander came there couldnt of been more than 100 people on the main floor lol. It was so dead in there even with the music you can hear everyone talking lol

one of his sets at Arc, I believe he spun with either hawtin or sven vath was out of control that night but god since then its been all down hill.

yea i agree hes deff not the same
last 2 times i saw him he was sooooo minimal in the begining and didnt bring it up much at all
then all of a sudden in his last hour he just brought up the bpm out of no where and was hammering shit
but before that was a snoozefest
he deff changed

Posted by MerkEMusic on Aug-20-2008 20:04:

ITs not the same

Never will he play like he did....... Its like this its like that.........................................

Posted by colibri on Aug-20-2008 20:23:

...mauro hasnt played iny as he did once at arc

by that i mean over 90% of the tracks being ^ quality
not filling gaps going nowhere as most lame djs do...

Here is a video that will change all of your minds in regards to how Mauro plays. This video was taken at the Club Privilege, Ibiza during his event called Meganite.

Meganite Event is Mauro's brainchild which he started back in 2002. In 2004 he moved the night to Club Privilege, Ibiza where it has been a huge success every since.

Watch as Mauro Picotto drops this summers dancefloor destroyer, Daniel Papinis Church of Nonsense at Meganite in Ibiza.

you do know that the track is overdubbed and he can be playing anything during the filming of those videos

also i remember one night at arc before he went on..he was walking up to the booth and he fell down the steps landed flat on his face..luckily his manager quickly got em up and he had this drunken smile on his face like waaa woops haha..he was just a wee bit tipsy

he also wrecked a few times that night..was last time i saw em
