Thumbs up Just Came Back From Ibiza... Whoooaaaa!!!

So I just got back from my summer vacation a few days ago, and I was lucky enough to visit the lsland weve all dreamt to see and all dreamt to party on the island of sin called IBIZA!
This island is nothing how I imagined it to be it was soooo much more! It was full of tourism, full of new friendships, great drugs and hard bass. I thought I would share some of my experiences on TA cuz I know a lot of you are curious to know what its all about and most of you have a completely different perception of this island.
We were there for 5 nights (clearly not enough time!) and we went to 3 major parties; Cosmic Gate & Tiesto @ Privilege, Armin, Marcus & Marco @ Cream in Amnesia, and Paul Van Dyk @ Gio Goi in Amnesia. All three were absolutely incredible! They were experiences Ill never forget

Clubs:
Privilege was said to be the biggest club in the world, and fuck was it HUGE! This place holds 10,000 sweaty clubbers and has so much more to offer than any other clubs we have in Toronto. The lighting & sound systems were massive and totally impressive. Speakers were loud but not ear piercing. First time I ever saw Laughing Gas booths where you can purchase some given to you in a balloon for 5$ Eur. They say it heightens your high by a gazillion for like 30 seconds who knows never got around to trying it.
Guy to girl ratio 3:1.

Amnesia was fucking ace! This place was waaaaaaaaaaay smaller than I expected, but as soon as the place filled up and Armin came on the sound system kicked into full force. Amnesia has two rooms (Cream & Cocoon) but only Cream is well known because of its live Armada parties as well as other DJs. They had a MASSIVE smoke machine that literally could blow you away. The dancers were HOT: girls and guys. It seemed like Amnesia went on a scouting binge to recruit the sexiest and best dancers in the world. Ive never seen dancers look so hot. they had sex written all over them. The washrooms were sooooo clean and I never had to wait in line like the guv washroom line!
Girl to guy ratio 2:1.

Bora Bora Beach bar is essentially a bar located right on the beach in Playa Den Bossa. This place is boppin @ 6pm! I mean people chill on the beach all afternoon and tan. As soon as 6 rolls around, the music in Bora Bora starts getting louder and people start walking over to the bar, buy a pitcher of sangria and start shaking their asses on the beach/ on the bora bora patio. Its the weirdest thing to see people actually partying at 6pm, yet its the coolest thing to experience there. Ive attached a video below.

Cafe Del Mar @ San Antonio Bay is the place to be to watch the sunset in Ibiza. I mean, you have NOT experienced a sunset until you've watched it on the beach @ Cafe Del Mar. Believe it or not, hundreds of people arrive at the beach (on the San Antonio strip) just before sunset, sit down on one of the rocks, open up a bottle of whatever, and literally watch the sun set for a half hour while Cafe Del Mar blasts incredible loungy/ chill / sunset tunes on their MASSIVE speakers that flows throughout the strip and the beach. It's a VERY emotional experience that EVERYONE feels and I guarantee you it's something that will never be forgotten. In fact, it was definitely one of the highlights of my trip.

Crowd:
The crowd was VERY mixed. In Playa D'en Bossa, most of the people were Italian (from Italy), and in San Antonio Bay most people were from Germany or Britain. I would say that those 3 were the top nationalities in Ibiza. In the 5 days that i spent there, i only heard a handful of people speak English in the north American accent... EVERYONE was European. And dude, Europeans know how to fucking party! LOL

We were lucky to bump into a Slovenian guy who was on his 2nd trip in Ibiza and knew all the right places to go, at the right times, and knew all the right things to do. He got us to rent scooters/ ATV's and ride all over the island. We went to some cave one day that had the most beautiful view of Ibiza... it even had a private island off the main land!!
There's soooo much more to say about Ibiza and this trip, but i can't express it in words the way i would like to I've attached some pics and vids that i thought you guys might want to check out.
One last thing... when i was there, i learned that Ibiza is all about letting yourself free and being who you want to be. This island WILL change you. The experiences I've had are indescribable and i REALLY think that everyone who enjoys the beach and EDM would have a phenomenal time. Fuck cuba... I'm going back to the island of sin next year... who's in?!?!

These are the views from the cave...

haha

Just so we're clear folks:

Jealousy is an emotion whereby one is displeased over the fact that although one wants something (or someone) to oneself only, such is not the case.
--For instance: "I am a jealous boyfriend" makes sense because I am jealous of my girlfriend insofar as I do not want anybody else to have her.

Envy is an emotion whereby one is displeased over the fact that although one wants something that somebody else has, such is not the case.
--For instance: "I am envious of you Tamar" makes sense because I regret the fact that she has gone to the clubbing capital of the world and I have not.

So, let us TAs no longer confuse these terms and, hopefully, one day--many years from now, if ever--all people will speak correctly when they use the words 'jealousy' and 'envy'.

A typical club night if you don't have connections for cover will easily cost you over $100. Don't expect to buy drinks there unless you're loaded. At Amnesia it was 12 EUR for a shitty Budweiser.

Restaurants are priced pretty normally, two people can eat fairly well for around 25 EUR.

Wow, great review!!! Thanks for the pics and vids

Posted by italarmo on Aug-19-2008 20:39:

Thanks guys! I knew it would pump everyone up for next year!!

My experience with cost was not bad actually. We stayed in a hotel in Playa D'en Bossa (just a couple min from Bora Bora) and it included breakfast and dinner buffet all you can eat. So it actually saved as a shitload of spending cash. We went out to eat a few times and a dinner would cost each person approx 10$ EUR.
The clubs were the kicker. Tiesto @ Privilege was 50$ EUR advance tix sales and 65$ EUR at the door. Armin @ Amnesia was $35 EUR advance tix for guys & 25$ EUR for ladies. Bottled water was a fucking rip off. They were the stubby size bottles for $8 EUR! But most bars on the strip have 2 for 1 pitchers of beer or sangria, so you can get pre-loaded for the clubs.
Basically if you plan on going for a week (anything less is NOT recommended), you will need at least $1000 CDN spending cash... depending on what kind of partying you're into
But all things aside... the clubs were totally worth it... even though it was MAD expensive... it was an experience and a trip of a lifetime!

Great reviews/pics.

FYI Cocoon is well know (a la Sven Vath, Richie Hawtin and other techno parties), just not for trance.

You were at playa den bossa and you missed SPACE ?????

What were you thinking exactly??

I know exactly what you mean about the sunset, we saw it on our last night and it was so emotional. It was a great way to end the trip.

Posted by MissK on Aug-19-2008 22:34:

If that review doesn't make you wana go I don't know what will.

Spitty told me how amazing the sunsets @ cafe del mar are. Apparently the whole place goes and chills on the beach.

DO NOT buy your tix from ibiza spotlight. You'll find that when you're walking down the strip, guys/ girls will come up to you and promote the clubs so you buy advanced tix from them for MUCH cheaper. These guys sell everything :P

And one does not go to Cuba for the same reasons as they would go to Ibiza. well I didn't anyway.
