Why can't you hear the effects of the EQs in your headphones on the Xone 92?

You can. Just hit the 'Post EQ' button on the right hand side of the mixer, below the 'Cue Active' light.

since i'm on the topic of the xone, does anyone know how to hook up an efx 500 to it?

Aux Out -> EFX -> Channel on the mixer.

That's the method I use on my 62.

while i should know my audience, there ARE many things in life that are a much larger travesty...

but hey, better late than never!

i'm also trying to learn ableton live 7... it's a lot to learn in a short amount of time. especially when i have no idea what i'm doing.
