Coming to Montreal Labour Day Weekend

What's up Montreal, I'm tired of the TO Labour Day Mutant, sausage fest Labour of Love meat head parties. So where better to go then Montreal!!! Fuckin love you!!

Need to get your consensus, me and my boys are trying to map out the Labour Day weekend venues in Montreal. We need hard hitting house music, even some trance.

So we get there Saturday at around 12pm. Other than the big events on the Sunday night,(Sensations & Global, both stellar, decisions... decisions)anything happening on Saturday afternoon during the day, like Beach Club? And where to go Saturday night? What about Sunday morning and afternoon?

We're ready to rock it like stars in Montreal, anyone with me? My weekend is in your hands.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Peace.

That week end is all about Piknik Elektronik:

-August 30th
Jennifer Cardini (Fr) - Mini (Ca) - Doc Funk (Ca) - James Diamond (Us)

-August 31st
Misstress Barbara (Ca) - Sad Mafioso (Ca)

-September 1st
MSTRKRFT (Ca) - NROTB (Ca) - Teenage Bad Girl (Fr) - Jordan Dare (Ca)

Other than Piknik, there will be some nice events:

-I LOVE NEON @ Theatre Telus, August 30th: Calvin Harris, Italians do it better, Jordan Dare

-Infected Mushroom @ Theatre Telus, August 31st

Beach club sucks, big time. Go to Piknik instead. If you don't know what Piknik is, well, prepare to be amazed

There is a rumor that Sensation will be moved to Millenium, a very shitty club, so I would wait before purchasing a ticket. Personnally, I simply would not go to Sensation, but that's up to you

Hmmmhmm... Everything getting moved to MILLENNIUM!! last minute when everybody has their ticket... Lol, but sensation is an after hours event tho... that club closes @ 3 am...

Wow that would be so awful for all those going to Sensation... Sound system is the biggest piece of garbage of the planet.

Anyone care to share their views between Beach Club and Piknik? Music better than other, people, atmosphere?

Posted by breakawayj on Aug-21-2008 20:22:

Never been to piknic.....Beach Club is my fav place in Canada (probably anywhere else i've been aswell)

FYI..Im fairly positive Deko-ze is playing BC that day....which doesn't suck.

Piknik is located at Parc Jean Drapeau right next to the water! At night you get to see Montreal across the water all shiny and nice . The Djs are all Djs you wont get to see often in life since they are the champions from Europe! Bring your own alcohol/food/cooler/lawnchairs and just chill out or hit the dancefloor! The crowd is friendly and the vibe is all about the music.

Beach Club is the complete opposite of what I just said. JK or maybe not?

Yes, Deko-ze definately brings it.

Not that it matters, since it's about the music, but heard BC is more of a gay crowd? I just hate going to sausage fests in general.

If you can't stand hippies, dreads and other unsightly earthlings(and smells), seeing babies next to their parents smoking pot or worse, dogs everywhere... then skip Piknic, its not for you.

So is the option of bringing our own stuff just an option? OR they just don't sell alcohol there period?

So is Piknik not really a club per say? More like a park or place by the water that plays music?

Posted by malek on Aug-21-2008 20:44:

they do sell alcohol and food.

Its a park with music in an enclosed area.

lol Definately not. Its no different than going to any other club dude....mixed crowd....the ladies are magic there......

check the pics from the ibiza party ...you'll see what im talking about.

Posted by Fran666 on Aug-21-2008 20:48:

piknic and beach club have nothing in common... different experience, different ambiance, different crowd, different music and everything else is different. Difference is good by the way.

The only comparable aspects are that both places are fun, events gather huge crowds...

People that like techno, minimal, electro with no vocals love to hate beach club... people that love vocal tribally house music love to hate piknic...

In reality, if your a party animal both places are fun.

Some say, Piknic is cheaper because you bring your beer... but i try to encourage the place and all the concept by buying my beer there... which at the end of the day cost me the same as Beach Club. And there is no beach. Riverside with the nicest of view of Montreal on the International Expo 1967 site. 10 minutes from downtown.

Beach Club more a sort of club med with good house music to dance to. Lakefront surrounded by a beach. 45 minutes from Montreal.

Different vibe, different crowd, difficult choice each week to which place to choose... i love both equally.

Can anyone comment on door security for these places for those that just like to bring their own personal goods? not picky, or strip search?

Circus?
Pepsi Forum?
Beach Club?

You're going to get searched at all of these places.....At BC you can bring food, drink but no alcohol.....the search isn't too intense though....Circus searches and i imagine the pepsi forum will have a thorough search as well.

Any creative spots for hiding? I usually just keep it in my shorts when I party here, people at the door here don't care.

you see....there is your problem why its a sausage fest....you keep bringing boys to the club with you....if guys brought girls to the club then it wouldn't be such a sausage fest....all you are doing is moving the sausage fest to Montreal.
