Why is Tiesto so big?
Anyone wonder how an average DJ could get to such a superstar status?
My answer is the man behind the name has created, or had created for him, a brand, Tiesto that has had mass market appeal to mostly European dance scenes. His mixing is nothing special, but yet, the guy is a super star. It's all about how a DJ brands himself, promotes himself, how well the record label manages the brand. Tiesto is the Wal-Mart of DJ's!
because he couldn't resist the sweet supple flavour of chocolate cake.
Because of what you think about when you touch yourself.
cuz he's black.
Tiestosneakers!
I guess he was eating a lot as a kid ![]()
he drank a lot of milk.
combination of being in the right place at the right time, a good marketing team and a few good tracks (mostly produced by other people)
viagra
*Shitload of great tracks
*Right place at the right time
*A face you remember (doesn't have to be for good reasons)
*Mixing (Remember any publicity is good publicity)
*Track selection, which is actually very very good. He's been rather consistent over the years as opposed to most other superstars who seem to get rather shit after a while and only get gigs due to their diehard fans.
*Great brand name
he has an incredible team built around him. many people's careers rely on his success.
Actually its because he was just that damn good until about 2004.
cuz his name sounds so cool to say........
Rolls right off the tongue.
Now, if his name were something along the lines of "DJ Willywack", we probably wouldn't be having this discussion.

b/c he does a badass jesus pose?
Genetics?

Yeah most of its covered here. Because he was really good, because he still has flashes of brilliance, because he has a memorable name (no joke, to english speakers its a name that sticks out amongst all the van whatevers). Mostly because his track selection was just really good and he was on top of whatever was happening in dance music, without neccesarily being joined at the hip with any particular sound or genre. He was flexible and had the tracks.
Now, how much of that still applies is open to question, but he was OK when I saw him here.
