Heading to toronto on Wednesday

I am staying at the delta chelsea. Is there a strip of bars close to there, or anything close to there worth seeing? I know the guvernment isn't too far from there, but any other suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

Dude. You're surrounded w/ bars etc.

What exactly are you looking for?

Also, try checking the events forum sticky at the top of the TOTA page.

I am just looking for anything really. Hole in the wall bars with good people and cheap price...something that plays good dance music, hip hop.

I saw the event forum, but I still am not that familiar with the area. I was hoping the LoL was going to be better. I will probably still go to guvernment, but on Saturday or Friday instead.

depends on what ur looking to do..yonge st. which is the st. right by ur hotel is good for general shopping, eating..etc.......eaton centre is ok i guess...if ur into malls..queen st west is best for shopping in my opinion..unless u want to drop serious dough, in which case you can head to bloor st. just west of yonge..

as far as bars etc..you'll find a couple of strip clubs on yonge st..but other than that..just your regular bars in restaurants..ie. hard rock cafe..

if ur looking for an area with a bunch of clubs/bars, head to richmond st. just west of university..there are dozens in that area...it really depends on what ur looking for..what you want to hear..type of people, what night of the week..etc..

definetly check out the guv tho..

hope this helps a little..have fun!

If you go on Saturday, make sure you check out NuEra's set in the Acid Lounge at Guvvy.

Hole in the wall bars you really are surrounded by them. But if you want that hole in the wall feel w/ great food & good local beer, check out C'est What on Front St. (about $6 cab ride from you or a 20 minute walk..gmaps will do the rest for ya).

You're also not far from Hotel (Thursdays are decent there) & the club district (ugh ... but eye candy for ya whatever your flavour is, just limited quality of tunes in most spots) for Friday. Also, if you're looking for more of the underground style, I know of a couple of solid booty-funk/electro parties goin on on Saturday.

Anyway, I just stopped in to check something in the events forum ... so I'm back to my lazy Sunday on the back deck. Good luck w/ your search for entertainment & feel free to pm me if you want more details on the booty/electro party side of things.

Cheers!

Good happy hours and places to eat that aren't touristy are a plus too.
Thanks

Happy hour doesn't really exist in Toronto, or Ontario for that matter, as there are strict provincial regulations regarding the promotional sale & discounting of alcohol. Sorry. I wish it was like Miami here w/ those kickass 3-for-1 drink specials.

As far as good eateries go:

C'est What see above $20 for app, dinner + alc = great buy w/
even better food & usually features solid live tunes
every night of the week
Map

Salad King weird name yeah, but in my mind Toronto's best Thai
food downtown & great prices, plus it's barely 3 minutes
from the door of the Delta Chelsea South on Yonge from
the hotel & then West on Gould & you'll see it

Torito kickass tapas bar in Kensington Market (neighborhood, not just a market) with unreal food and a convivial atmosphere on either of the patios or inside 276 Augusta Ave. Map

So there's 3 recommendations from me for some local fare that will also take ya into different neighbourhoods & past some sites to a plate worth eating.

Cheers!

considering you have an account on tranceaddict then saturdays at guv would probably better suited for you than fridays.

Thanks for all the suggestions...I don't know about woody's though =).
Just a couple more questions

From PEarson airport, is better to take the subway or just bite the bullet and take a taxi to the delta chelsea.

Also I planned on going to niagra falls...I planned on taking the train, is that the best plan? Thanks.

I just realized that I'll be just around the corner from your hotel
umm the taxi will probably cos you between $60-70, unless you bargain for a flat rate with the cabby

if you don't have much luggage, you can take an airport shuttle (I think there's one right? peeps helpe me out!) to a subway stop of some sort

There is no train from Pearson.

Check with your hotel, chances are they run a shuttle.

Yeah, Ive never taken it but all my friends who live downtown catch that shuttle at Delta whenever they need to go to the airport.
The draw back is that it stops at multiple hotels... but you save a lot of money.

Are you sure about this? I thought it was regulated... like so it costs a set rate to travel to various zones throughout the city... AFAIK I think it is about $48 to the Delta Chelsea area... maybe as high as $55 but I doubt any higher than that
