How long should a person wait...

Before going to the doctor for a headache? I've had a headache now for 13 days. It starts where the head and neck meet, and then kinda spreads around my head. Feels like a thunderclap, because it's so sudden and sharp. Tylenol doesn't help, and none of my strong painkillers from the surgery even help. I keep putting it off because it's "just a headache", but 13 days seems like a long time to have one.

Can't you phone your doctor and ask him briefly whether this condition is normal?

Posted by nchs09 on Aug-26-2008 14:25:

Perhaps ithas somethign to do with your illness? Or migranes? I would actually go after 5 days or so in your condition tbh. Better safe than sorry.

I get headaches atleast once or twice a week.

My liver is prob so shitty from taking alot of tylenol since I was young. I know if I had a headache for more than a week straight and not just cuz of PMS - I'd go.

Atleast for some relief.

go asap.

you even had that dream about that explosion or whatever and the doctor. might be a signal of something serious.

I have headaches that last for weeks and start where the head and neck meet once in a while. Then again my neck is in a bad shape anyway due to a couple off unfortunate accidents. If a headache last this long, visiting a doctor is probably a good idea. Could be nothing, maybe you have just been sleeping weirdly for the past couple of weeks and that's the reason why your head aches, but then again why take the chance.

I don't get "that time of the month" anymore... soooo....

I just feel whiney going in and saying "I have a headache", but it's to the point where my vision is blurry, and I just feel exhausted.

I thought it was sleeping funny too, but then I realized I haven't been... I sleep the same way I always do, no new pillows or anything like that.

I'm debating calling my oncologist and asking if this is normal or I should go to the regular physician.

For like, just one week, I'd like to know what it's like NOT to have a health problem.

I can tell you it's pretty boring, since you've nothing to moan about on the internetz.

On a more serious note, go to the doc now!

Oh, and no medical thread is complete without a house/lupus pic:

Posted by elFreak on Aug-26-2008 15:38:

go now.

no offense, but people that ask strangers on a music forum about medical advice on a problem that has lasted 2 weeks (without going to a doctor) are idiots.

don't be one.

callme

A 13 day headache is NOT normal.

Do you really need to be told you need to see a doctor or are you just looking for sympathy?

Well, since I myself have never had a headache like this, nor has anyone I know - I was just double checking whether or not people have headaches for this long, or if this is actually something to worry about.

And hey - I had nothing else to do while I was waiting.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Aug-26-2008 16:06:

Even migraines don't typically last longer than a couple days. Go see a damn doctor.

Posted by DJ Mikey Mike on Aug-26-2008 16:06:

You've just said it yourself - Neither you nor anyone you know has ever had a headache for this amount of time. Common sense should tell you this is not normal.

Posted by elFreak on Aug-26-2008 16:07:

waiting for what...sympathy?

Posted by DCgirly on Aug-26-2008 16:09:

Are you drinking enough water? That's usually the cause of most headaches. But 13 days is a lot.
