DemiGod

Demigod is an upcoming video game currently under development by Gas Powered Games, the creators of Supreme Commander and Dungeon Siege. The gameplay consists of elements borrowed from both of those genres and is described as an action/RPG/RTS hybrid partly inspired by the Warcraft III map Defense of the Ancients. The game gives the player the ability to choose certain heroes that rely on either their own power as a single unit or the power of creating multiple units

Actually I have a bunch of really old computer scraps in a box somewhere. One of these days I'm gonna rig me an old ghetto style MS-DOS system and play some Tie Fighter.

You can just use one of those DOS emulators as well. Of course, they don't work as well as the real deal, but they are a nice substitute.

Yeah, but it just doesn't have the same charm. Same reason I still play my old SNES even if I could use emulators.

I like the way you game. The same reason I bought an NES and Genesis just a year ago.

so, ive gotten into demigod the last few weeks and its a helluva lot of fun. i completely suck at it because its not all that transparent with the rules (like FA is) but really enjoying learning all the tricks and how to use which units/demigods.

never played DoTA but i hear demigod is better.

League of Legends is going to be amazing and blow Demigod out of the water. It has the makers of DOTA as their dev team.

ps - dota is better than demigod

Me too....Emulators are ok, but I like hooking up my old school nes to my big tv and playing on the original hardware.

I tried it out and I wasn't too excited. First of all, I hate fantasy based games like WOW. So, playing Demigod, to me, felt like I was playing WOW. I played for maybe 10 minutes before getting bored as hell and not really having any motivation to learn how to use all the crap you have to use and buy. Forged Alliance is good enough for me..

Anyone that compares DG to WoW most definitely didnt play the game long enough to be able to tell anything.

Dude, one of the maps is inspired by WOW. It's supposed to be a merger between WOW-type gaming, and real-time strategy. And that's exactly how I saw it. Like combining supcom with WOW.

I think he meant the W3 map, not WOW, that was an inspiration. Still it's the same fantasy universe.

Dude, DemiGod looks like the supreme commander version of WOW. I don't know wtf DoTA is, nor do I give a fuck about the differences in game genres. My geek friend is just like you. I say it's like WOW, and he gets all offended because it's not a MMORPG but a RPG/RTS hybrid. Still full of goblins and orc looking little shits, with mana and potions, and all the WOW-type stuff..

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Jul-29-2009 02:13:

riiight... so anything fantasy is now WoW? tolkien would be offended. there are no orcs and goblins in DG btw.

Dota is defence of the ancients, a mod for warcraft 3. this was the single-biggest influence on DG. DG is a tower defence game. buying gear is not an "RPG element" despite how often that might get used. i know you hate being wrong and all, but comparing WoW to DG is just silly
