Why, oh why, oh why, do some people go and ask 5 different promoters for guestlist for the same event?

Before I fully respond, I would like to see some responses in this thread...

I know that I've been on a guest list...or at least thought I was and when I got to the door they didn't have my name. I am sure some people just want to make sure they are on a guest list so they ask several promoters. The only time I ask for guest list is on TA

Some promoters are assholes and don't put you on when they say they will...

Therefor ppl use backups...

And then there's the rest who think they are cool cause they know 5 promoters....

I don�t think so.. Most promoters are pushy & break balls (FB invites) to get you on their list because they wanna make as much money as possible. Not all but most get paid from the list & the amount of ppl that come under it so why not add ppl if they ask?

Another good question is why do promoters add a bunch of bullshit names on the list for no reason? Great you have 84 names but 5 ppl showed. Do they really thing that�s makes them look good with management/head promoters?

I've sometimes been ommited from the GL, maybe because I sign up online.

But usually I'll put myself on the normal guestlist, and sometimes, like the day before, i'll find a reduced guestlist, or something with a better perk and use that.

yup, nothin like saving 60 bucks..makes the night soooo much sweeter...i'm still waiting for an answer for this years lol..so we'll see...

I've been told I will be on a list before and gotten to the venue to find out it wasn't there

Although promoters want you on their list, if it's a relatively last minute request, sometimes your name won't get on just because they're crazy busy the day before or the day of the party. I've seen jelo show up to guv for a gallery set and the doorman doesn't have the list of who can come in with him or the list is incorrect.

Also, sometimes you put your name on a reduced list and the opportunity to get on a free list (or a free all night list) comes up later. So obviously you put your name on that.

Guest List is pretty silly most of the time. I hate people who act all "do you know who I am? I'm on So and So's list", and yeah - so are 100 other people who got the facebook invite, you think your special?

I rarely bother for GL anymore, most of them cut off too early and any money I'd 'save' I'd end up spending inside on drinks, and its just more hassle then I want to deal with at the door

"Your on whos list again?"
"Whats your name?"
*wait*
"Who's list again?"

Hell, there's been times when I did bother to get GL, get to the club - and the GL line was moving slower than the normal line so I'd figure "screw it, rather pay a whole $5 dollars more and get in now instead of waiting in line to use GL", by pass the long ass GL line and get in faster.
