quote:

It has been the most anticipated sequel in electronic music. False tracklistings, fake audio torrents and even doctored artwork have propelled Invol2ver into a trainspotters mystery. 4 years, 2 months and 4 days devoted fans have waited for the follow up to the release that redefined the DJ mix. In between writing and producing 3 original songs for this release, several singles for his new label emFire, scoring a surf film, composing music for TV shows such as CSI, and his hectic yearly globe trotting tour schedule, Sasha worked on and completed Invol2ver. The wait is almost over.

Featuring 13 tracks worth of Sasha gold, the standard edition features Sasha's unique re-workings of musical giants such as Radiohead's Thom Yorke and American folk singer Ray LaMontagne as well as formidable electronic artists Apparat and Ladytron, while the limited edition comes equipped with a second CD of Sasha remix exclusives.

Invol2ver is no ordinary mix CD. Its a painstakingly created blend of mix and artist album in which a world class DJ pushes his creativity to its very limits, helped by a crack team of studio experts. Taking a diverse collection of tracks and picking them apart. Then weaving them into a colourful tapestry that is completely his own. Invol2ver is the sound of one of the worlds finest DJs at the peak of his powers, mixing you the future.

Sasha, Barry Jamieson and the Spooky duo of Charlie May and Duncan Forbes, plus Leo Leite used every piece of dirty equipment they could get their hands on to create that lo-fi gritty sound, and loved every minute of it. In every way, Invol2ver is closer to a production album than anything else. We were like kids in a toy shop basically, hunting out as many old mixing desks, drum machines and guitar pedals that we could find on eBay says Sasha. By layering old guitar pedals, amps, and white noise, Barry adds Its like a collage of New York sounds. Old gear is so unpredictable and it had a mind of its own, this album was very spontaneous in that way. And like NYC, the city that never sleeps, Invol2ver is alive; you just cant get these sounds from a computer or anywhere else.

It's good but not great. The album seems to drag on a bit during the middle.

Yea true, some tracks did feel a bit dragged, almost as if he could have taken out 2-3min from some of them...but that being said, i still think it has a good linear-like progression and build..every track has something more to offer then the last and eventually leads into the epic tracks near the end

not sure if i like it more than the first one, overall i think its more well rounded but not as exciting where as the first one had more interesting tracks but it fizzled out near the end...

Listened to this a few times but I really like this mix. Powerful! Everything just flows. Definitely better than Fundacion.

9/10

Hopefully it's better than the first one.

I absolutely loved Fundacion, so I will differ with you on that one.
I still have yet to listen to this one. I can't wait to see what he brought to the table though.

Maybe I'm jaded, but it's been a LONG time since a tune came along and made my jaw drop.

The invol2ver edit of 'Destroy Everything You Touch' would be that tune.

Goddamned ridiculous.

involver 1 was ammazing !!!!

involver 2 is also ammazing but different ...heard at least 5 times already true some of the tracks are dragged a bit but the flow of the cd is just great .. that remix of destroy , i just cant get enought of and the track by m83 gives me shivers everytime !!!

Sasha is at his best right now .. his live sets are specially the last two i picked up ( creamfields and ibiza ) and i really cant wait to hear him live !!!

The man is a genius and no other dj does it better !!

The tune is absolutely mental. Too bad he didn't play it earlier this month when I saw him.

i don't think this release is better than the first one. Maybe it's just because I have a soft spot for part 1, but like Petro said it just doesn't feel as exciting. There's 2 tracks on part 2 that resemeble tracks from Fundacion and that kinda bothers me too.

Just remember that other musical geniuses worked on this too

I love the first 15 mins the best so far...

the ladytron remix is sick agreed, BUT imo he uses the worst part of that hook! lol I'm such a huge fan of the orig it hurts to hear him cut it up like that...

Exactly. Has Sasha even produced one single tune BY HIMSELF??

I haven't heard this, but by the tracklist every track is either a remix or has samples from another song...

The point of the Involver series is to break down all/most trax and re-edit them into Sasha'a distinguished, unique sound

Having listened to this a few times now I would definately have to say that the 2nd part of the cd is my favourite. Everything from Ladytron on. I love the sequence of Destroy Everything You Touch into Couleurs....that synth line coming in is just awesome...I also love the warpy/spacey bassline that it gets in to with the vocals on top....money. I would agree that the first bit is more epic but to me the second half has alot more life to it and evokes much more emotion in me. I am also reeeaaaallllyyyy liking 3 little piggy's.

Wow really? I would have to say the exact opposite. The mix into Couleurs is good, but that track feels so unnecessary to the overall mix. I really would've preferred if it didn't make the cut.

Charlie May - Midnight

That is all.
