New DJ require Help

Hey i am wanting to start DJ'ing and i have around 400 and i was wondering what the best setup i could get with that is, i have been offered the Citronis PD1's and the MSX 1 or Pro 8 mixer for 369 or the PD1's and the Stanton Msr3 or the Numark 3000x mixer for around 400.

i am going to DJ trance and hard house, and i will be using two turntables and most likely in the near future upgrade with a CD player, thats why i am considering having a three channel mixer. which package will suit me better, or is there a totaly different set all togeather? and i can only afford 400, i cant save up and get the godly 1210's

how much money is in euro's?
I think you should get some cheap TT's, but it have to be a direct drive. I think the gemini xl 500, it's the best TT you could buy. It's the best TT in the cheapest classe, you don't need more expensive TT's, you gonna buy some Technics later (don't you?). with the cheapest TT's you could save some for a good (better) mixer, or vinyl, or even Technics at a later stadium. It's also good to buy the cheapest direct-drives, cause you will get a good technic with it, they are not as stabile as a Technics, or other better TT's. So you will have to adjust the speed more than other TT's, it will learns you a better technic.
about your mixer, I don't know how much money you exactly got in euro's, but I think you have to buy the Gemini PS 626 Pro or a Numark 3(2)002. or if you can get a good deal with a used one, which one is better, go for that!

400 comes out at 625 euros, so what dya reckon?

I should buy 2 * gemini xl 500 and a trying to get a 3-channel numark or gemini. If you don't have enough money, just buy your TT's first, it's important that you start with a direct-drive. so just look for a good used mixer, or maybe save a month for a new one. but remember, don't buy used TT's, only if they are technics.

I'm in the same situation as well....

I would wanna get Technics, but don't wanna blow that much money right from the start, I'd rather build up my vinyl collection with the difference....

about the mixer, I've always been told to get a 3 channel mixer, however ALOT of people seem to like the Vestax PCV 275 that came out, how do you see it compare to the Gemini and Numark?

3 channel mixers are sure the best mixers to start, almost everybody starts with 3 channels. most people use 2 channels for their TT's and a CDplayer.
The Vestax PCV 275 is surely from a better quality than a 3-channel Numark or Gemini. The faders of the PCV 275 are just heavier than the faders from a numark or a gemini. He's works really better and nicer than the N. or G. and he's a good solid mixer! It's worth saving more money for the PCV 275, but you will have to wait a while.

HappyHappy

personally, I'm onto a guy with a PAIR (yes, a bleedin' pair!!) of Technics and a Vestax PMC 17A going for about 480 used... you can still get technics, just read your local ad-mag or classifieds
surely you can save 80 quid?

If I am able to find a pair of used Technics I would definitely jump on that opportunity...

but it seems like the Vestax PCV-275 is quite a decent mixer, so I think I will end up getting cheap turtables (if I dont find reasonable used technics) and the Vestax.
