New to 'techno'

I don't know that much about techno-techno, not 'techno' as in the trance and jungle stuff I listen to a lot, esp. trance. Someone reccommended Mauro Picotto - Hong Kong as a techno genre song, and I heard it and it's really cool, I like it...can you tell me others like it? Or if it's not actually categorized best as 'techno', what is? examples? thanks muchly...

Hey i had the same type of question in mind....I always thought of techno with some of that fruity sound samples...like the ones that make weird noises. but i heard some other type of techno which is pretty good and not cheesy...like sven vaeth - mind games... thats techno too but its far different from the cheesy types...so are both types techno or are they of different genres?

Kirby, don't completely listen to these european techno loving wankers, they don't know everything. You forget Detroit Techno, the greatest part of techno (shut it verminator and ussr junkie!, i know what you fools think!). Go find Kenny Larkin's two albums, called azimuth (1994) and metaphor (1995) which are two of the greatest albums of all time. Also look for the techno godfathers stuff, juan atkins, kevin saunderson and derrick mary then the second wave of detroit producers, carl craig, kenny larkin and stacy pullen. Also get all of jeff mills's stuff (one of the greatest deejays ever) and if any of you know him personally, please beg him to return to toronto and play...........PLEASSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE.

Smoking ..umm..something

Can any of you techno addicts give me some examples of Hard Techno? I am starting to get into it. Thanks.

Some of the tunes I like:

Chris Liebing - CLR 01 (Gaetano parisio mix)
Sean Colt - New Souls
Marco Bailey - Sygno Power
Chris Liebing - Ping Pong Pineapple
Alex K Katz - Seek and Destroy
Marco Zaffarano - Re-take (Tedesco mix)

Posted by Djeebie on May-28-2002 06:39:

You should try these two:

Chris McCormack - Cracked
D.A.V.E. The Drummer - Hydraulix

They will sure satisfy your hardtechno needs!

Posted by verminator on May-28-2002 07:06:

@school

all guy mcaffer trax are hard =p
glenn wilson produce hard stuff
dave the drummer produce hard stuff
chris liebing - stigmata 1-8 (all of them) are pretty hard and awesome.

lots of stuff that are hard. if you want really hard with psycho sounds, ask ussr junkie =p he knows everything about hard..
he will probably frigthen you too with his knowledge of "the dark side" =p

yhah

dark side > everything

greetz

Posted by New Wave on May-28-2002 11:03:

You want hard....Buy Andreas Kremer - The way of the drum EP
B1 - Rock Theme (dj boss remix) you got freaked when you here this vinyl

Sven Wittekind is hard (braindead is really a hard one) (Overdrive lable)

Glenn Wilson, almost all his work is hard (like his Heroes label)

Indeed Stigmata is a very hard to.
