Holden- The Wheel appreciation thread...

Rarely to I feel inspired to put forth an appreciation thread for an individual track (and didn't find anything for past appreciation threads, but I admittedly didn't try very hard), but I've always felt this one was very special:

One of the finest tracks I own, and one I've never tired of.

Cue: 'It's nice, but I prefer 'A Break in the Clouds/I Have Put Out the Light.'

...we all know that's coming.

Well then, let me be the first to say..

"It's nice, but I prefer A Break In The Clouds"

I agree. Have always loved this song.

Question, though:

On the Balance 005 cover, it's listed as The Wheel [Pass One].. What exactly is Pass One?

it's good, but... come to me (club mix) > any other holden track. for me anyway.

Version 1? Just a guess... Don't know of another version to be released, though, either.

Like the moon
Through the heavens
Alone in my room
I have put out the light
And I am leaving

I weep
I weep because
You are so far away

Because
You will never know
How much I love you

I really wish I could figure out where he sampled that from. Definitely one of my favorite songs of all time.

Since you're here, I'd like to say that I really dig your remix (or co-remix) of Chasing Cars.

This should turn into Holden appreciation thread. And yes, this track is lush.

Lol It's his sister, Jenny Holden, she sings on another tune too i forget which one.

I've never listened through all of Come to Me, i find it dull as hell :s Everything he makes is so unique and sublime, i have the E Comp too, love it so much

Also its Pass 1 because he did a second version, Pass 2 which appears in some of his live sets.

Can't say i have a favourite track, they're all so amazing, remix of Fine Day is so beautiful as is Solstice etc etc. His latest stuff like Lump is sweet too Oh and his remix of The Sky Was Pink, pretty much responsible for creating a new genre.

I wish he finished the tune he started with Chable too.

It can't be said to many times - The fifth installment of the Balance series is absolutely timeless. The Wheel is one of the reasons.

I eventually picked up the full version some years after I picked up 005, and I never noticed how gorgeous the ending is in its own right.

I'm used to hearing Black Acid pt. 1 bridge it into the Infirnal Machine mix of Lifeformation, which is an excellent sequence indeed, but I absolutely loved how it wound down when I let it play out in its entirety.

in-credible tune

still hooked on itn and on balance 005

Other fav:

Herrmann & Kleine Leaving You Behind (Without Knowing Where To Go)

lovely track. altho the released version isn't nearly as good as the version that was circulating as mp3 years before the release. they should release that version too!

Is that the 'second pass' that other people are referring to?

I originally thought that it would be part of a series of 'Wheel' tracks, with subsequent 'passes' to follow later...which actually sounds like a cool idea, as far as I'm concerned.

But I would very much like to hear these other versions that people said have popped up before.

Great track that's held up well.
