Essential Mix Voice Overs

Is it just me, or are they becoming more and more obnoxious and distracting? Listening to Pete Tong is alright, but hearing variants of "BBC Radio One Essential Mix" with effects for 30+ seconds intervals is just plain annoying. As an example, see Paolo Mojo's EM at ~52 min.

I've always wanted to get hold of an "Essential Mix" vocal sample and use it over the top of tracks in a set so people with think "STUPID C**T STOLE THIS FUCKING MUSIC!".

Just play a set with Deadmau5 tracks only. That should do the trick.

I want to make people laugh, not make them cry.

well rather than just slap an essential mix over the top, they try to mix it in (at least from all the mixes i've heard). i think it sounds good sometimes, but they really have to do that because you have some really lame ass people who will use other peoples mixes to get gigs

i once bought a track after hearing it in an ess mix & thought it sounded shitty without the 'e-ssential, e-ssential' over & over

I always have that feeling when listening to Super8 - Cre8

+1

I usually like them.

I think it sounds great. Especially if your there where the essential mix is being played. Adds to the atmosphere and gets the crowd going.

I always feel sick when I hear the background sounds on the radio one coverage in Ibiza knowing that people I know are in the crowd...

I think they sound nice in Danny Howells' Essential mix

Eese.....Eese....Eese....Eese

usually when their played during break downs its ace..

Sometimes they actually sound kinda cool. Specially when they sync 'em up to the beats.

Yeah, the Plump DJs EM was pretty cool like that.

hahaha
i remember being out somewhere and someone played a tune from the armin em in 2003, i was saying that through the whole track

do you reckon you can get mp3s of the voice overs or something? so you can use them? i think it would be cool to play them out somewhere

Not nearly as bad as some of the old Judge Jules ones. e.g. 'Give it to me judge'

By far the worst ones are from continental european radio stations or events

think I'm listening to a set from Sensation this year and the ID&T voice overs just ruin it, really really not fitting.

I remember some from a few years ago with some guy uttering 'flying on the wings of euphoria powered by the wheels of steel' and other comparable bullshit.

Just reminded me MC Magika

Lee Coombs & Christian J - Dubhead was totally ruined for me when I found out that the e-ssential speech didn't belong to the track

Works for the Coombs set aswell, if the essential speech is there for example 20 times, it sounds good at least 15 times out of those twenty, so yeah..
EM voice-overs ftw.

EM voice overs are the best ever. Together with the sound fx, it all sounds so awesome, when in sync. Remember hearing PvD play Cygnus X - Superstring (Rank 1 Deep Dub) and constantly hearing 'Essential', 'Essential' being looped over it. Makes it so much more hypnotizing. Awesome.

I love hearing it in the Above & Beyond EM from 2004

"Essential" voiceovers over "Beachball" in Gabriel & Dresden's 2002 mix was awesome.
