Live Set. DaveT - In the Sunset

I ended playing impromptu last night at a friend's b-day/house party (our here in the Sunset District...hence the name!). Was supposed to play for an hour, but as I was wrapping up I was asked to keep going becuase the person who was playing after me was still out on a bear run (hehe)...so I ended up playing for 90 minutes.

Anyhow, haven't really given it a thorough listen yet, but still posting it for the hell of it. I'm not totally comfy with some of the tracks, but still think it went well.

A lot of prog trance/proggy tech-trance/etc. Basslines. Music that'd def work at clubs like Ruby or Ten.

BPM Range is 128-133. I use a lot of effects, both obvious and subtle, in this. Just me getting more comfy with Ableton.

No planned flow. Just went in and enjoyed myself. Will see a shift between the Heatbeat and Element One track...that's where I suddenly was asked to keep going so I just rushed and slapped the track in Ableton and kept going!

Update: Ewww, my transition between #9 and #10 coulda been a whole lot better. First time I ever used #10 in Ableton...which will be released this fall. Longtime friend co-produced it.

Hehe, hope you like it. It's not a serious set overall. Lot of goofing around going on while I was playing. House parties!!

Overall, giving the setup and the circumstances, I'm OK with how it came out. Need to familiarize myself a bit more with some of the tracks, though.

This is a great set... going to cruise to this for the rest of the week. Hell I may just keep it in my mp3 player for awhile and hit the gym.

Again, great job! Look forward to hearing more from you!

Uhh, you can download the file from megaupload for free without signing up for anything.

1. Click on the link.
2. There will be a three letter CATCHPA security thing...just type in the 3 letters you see in the graphic next to the entry slot and press "Download"
3. On the next page, you can just wait 45 seconds (there is a countdown timer on the page) and then the free download like will show up. Click on that Download link to get the set.

Thanks. Def some rough spots in it, but considering it was never too serious and was horsing around quite a bit, I am happy with it.

I had fun playing....and everyone enjoyed it. All I care about

sorry for late reply, just got to listen in my car.
nicely done. good selection of tracks, they blend together
nicely...

now we just have to get you in front of 700 screaming TORQ kids

Thanks. Feel free to give constructive criticism.

I think I am gonna do a proper 2-CD mix, each with it's own flavor. Or maybe three CDs. I like too many diff styles! I won't prep it though, I don't think. Seems when I prep things, it suffers. Just put a ton of tracks in a folder and select which ones I want to do as I go.
