WE MUST NOT RELY ON THE MACHINES TO DO THINGS FOR US, THAT'S THE WAY THEY WILL CONQUER THIS PLANET IN THE END!!!!

But seriously, really nice video there. I gotta see Richie at least a few times before I die.

I wonder why he's going that route (Xone 92 + 1Ds) vs something like a Xone 3D or 4D? The only difference I can see is that the 92 has 4-band EQ vs the 3-band EQ on the 3D or 4D. An other differences?

his xone 92 is specially modified as well - the xone 92 ctrl its called. not for public sale

Sounds like he made dj complicated.... by making it "simpler" wtf

well the 3d in reality only has 3 channels, which is the only huge fucking let down for me. i hate that bit about it and don't feel like dishing out the cash to 'upgrade' to the 4d (which bare in mind would be a huge upgrade for that alone).

as chesco said, his 92 is modified, and in my opinion (that along with the 4 band eq which does make a huge difference) is alone worth using over the 3/4d.

the mixers are by allen&heath, PaulSn (Xone; 1D, 92). top quality, top price

which reminds me, i need to contact allen & heath because my C2 fader has started bleeding to around 1/4 volume when it is put to nil, but when it's 1mm above complete 0, it's at fucking complete 0 and doesn't bleed. boggles my mind, pisses me off even more

Great Video
this seems very interestign.
The "Send" feature seems to be awesome.
and I wanana see Richie Live =)

The master clock thing is pretty sweet.

Posted by azone on Sep-11-2008 00:32:

pretty much the same thing I've been doing, except I use Faderfox's because of their small size instead of the 1D's.. and I have to integrate with whatever club mixer is at the venue (I use xone:92 at home). It's a good setup. I converted over from Ableton - which I had down pretty good - but you really have to concentrate and squint and it's clumsy to view the waveform views for each of the tracks.

Posted by movingincircles on Sep-11-2008 06:33:

why not use ableton live instead

you can grab more than just 4 tracks at a time

and syncing is much easier

Richie probably got Traktor for free?

Posted by Teezdalien on Sep-11-2008 07:20:

Saw a link to this vid posted recently in the 'Digweed going digital' thread. Sick vid though and deserves to be posted again. Awesome set-up, only wish I could afford it!
I think Traktor is heaps of fun to use with midi controllers and I use both it and Ableton too coz ableton has many features that Traktor doesn't. Would love to know if Hawtin is just using this set-up exclusively or if he still does use ableton? I think that's a Native Instruments promo vid by the way.

Posted by keithos27 on Sep-11-2008 15:12:

He said in that video that he uses Live for his effects machine.

And yes, it's a promo video for Traktor so I doubt he'd go into much detail on how much he uses Live.

I'll see if I can track down links to his Mysteryland set from last year (or was it two years ago now?), and his set from DEMF this last year was pretty solid (and is circulating).

If I can track down links quickly, I'll post them.

using this technology might be actually useful for his purposes (syncing up with other minus guys) but its nothing really new.. most of what hes done is just clever midi mapping. and the result is way too clean in my opinion, i didnt like his "djing" @ circle of love. his sound would fit to those 90s intel clean room commercials. everything is just so perfectly in time... but maybe thats the hawtin philosophy and i just dont like it

Saw him during conference at the m_nus party... he played a solid set.
