Hi there, please read

hello my names craig buchanan, im from liverpool uk, (european capital of culture 08!) im new to this site, didnt know were to post this "about me" thread as i never come across one on the site, or maybe i just havnt opened my eyes enough! but yer, im new to this site, and regarding trance music and its many sub genres and styles, im new to, too. Ive been downloading many mxes to hear many different styles, as im really digging any form of trance music at the moment, if theres any tunes or mixes youz guys could recommend me to listen to, that would be great also. Hope i will be stickin round on the site for a long time to come, everyone seems genuine and helpful, so yer thats my lil speech over with! see eevryone around

Mainstream trance has been dead since 1995, you should only listen to goa/psy/classic (the true feeling of trance, and far more quality too).

If I were asked where the best place to begin with stuff that's as accessible as it is good, this is inevitably where I'd always begin - though it does seem fair to say that a lot of this bears little to no resemblance to what is often referred to as trance now (but that is a whole other can of beans not even worth starting in on).

Check them out.

That CD2 of Northern Exposure is perhaps one of the best examples ever of... I wouldn't say "proper trance" cause that is a bit different from early 90s classic trance, but it's a great example of trance that manages not to sound stupid.

I would give anything to own a high quality copy of that 16B remix of "Believe."

One of my all time favorite tracks. The first six tracks on the East Coast disc are some of my all time favorite music.

Oooohh yeah, and while we're on a sasha/warren/prog trance roll, how about you listen to some Way out west albums? Awesome accessible dance music. The best of underworld should go in there too, as should anjunabeats 1-4 and Markus Schulz Miami 05. Probably Solarstone's anthology would be a good go, and for more recent stuff would recommend Satoshi Tomiie's renaisance 14, Urban Torque volume 1 and maybe Freerange's Colour 08.

Half of that isn't trance BTW.
