opinion about family guy

to all the family guy fans out there.

i came to the realization that most (if not all) of the jokes said on family guy are completely irrelevant to the plot of the episode.

what the writers of the show do is just think of a bunch of jokes/funny mini-scenarios and just randomly insert them in episodes with lines like "remember the time I...."

i just thought i would share my opinion about this. If anything family guy should just air a condensed version of the show with just the jokes/scenarios and it would be just as funny.

i am a fan of the show but don't really give a lot of credit to the writers.

its a situation? fuck
someone bring a pack of coffee and lets start cracking our heads about trouble shooting this bad boy

my opinion on family guy is that most of the fans dont see the crappy humour in it and only see the visual humour in it...

most of the jokes are just hating on celebrities that used to be famous and those too randomly come up out of context when peter "remembers" something

(by situation i ment the "SUBJECT" of the thread)

note: the subject was not "What is your opinion about kitchTA posting this thread"

but thank you for actually posting your opinion on the "SUBJECT" it took two tries but u did it.. congrats

much ado about nothing!

Its random comedy it doesn't have to make sense to be funny the plot is there so there is room to insert jokes such as remember when

Posted by djbruuen on Sep-09-2008 14:31:

its a great show and i still find it very funny. However your "observation" is hardly worth a topic as this has been blatantly stated since season one.

What they do is use other epesodes that didn't make the cut but had funny elements. Then they just think of a way to incorporate that bit into another episode.....

They explained this once during an episode or special or something.

Love Family Guy!!!!

+1

Personally for me, its the randomness of the characters action and speech that makes it hilarious for me.

I can't wait to see what the "Cleveland Show" will be like!

South Park explains how Family Guy is made

I guess you didn't see that South Park episode which gives an accurate deception of how Family Guy is written.

Family Guy used to have a plot (and was better when it did), but the last few seasons really have fallen into the "Just enough plot to string along every 80s obscure pop-reference gag possible" - kind of amusing now and then, but it's no longer on my "must watch" list.

American Dad is far better IMO.

I never realized that any of these animated shows had a plot deep enough to warrant discussion on whether or not it adds to the show; I thought it was universally understood that it did not.

Posted by zoogla on Sep-09-2008 18:04:

i agree with the OP's analysis of the show in question, however I must add that it
