Too bad it's at Opera.

Not to say that Devin didn't do well to get him into town... but without a good venue, you're just missing a big part of the equation.

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-10-2008 16:48:

not when its prydz.

he will bring the house down EVEN if it is opera, but prydz at centerstage would epic.

Posted by nchs09 on Sep-10-2008 17:42:

Saw him at the beatport party... he def threw a nice set.

I agree. I don't have a problem with Opera, but I know many do. The awesomeness of Prydz will make everyone forget they are even at Opera I'm sure.

no you shall be very aware of the guy in the affliction t-shirt to your left and the kid with the fohawk on your right you shall remeber your at opera.

Rofl I love it! Opera, the home of the fake!

Ummmmm, no.

Is opera old 1150? Whats wrong with it? I havent gone since they changed the name but i used to like 1150.... Minus the security guars that weight somewhere around 500 pounds and were complete jerks. I guess i didnt have to worry much about them though, i would give them the "wtvr" attitude... same i give to airport people

It's not really the venue itself but the fake people that inhabit it, you know the fake 'wannabe' clubber. The guys who think they are in the UFC wearing the affliction shirts and the 'daddys little girl' with her new dress and high heels. At EDM events, the guys who are like 'OMGZ I LOVE TECHNO! TIESTO IS MY FAVORITE!!' Otherwise the venue itself is actually pretty nice, the sound is kind of shitty though as is the lighting.

Posted by nchs09 on Sep-11-2008 05:17:

Wait... Tiesto is not YOUR favorite?

Dont ever speak to me again

Yeah, I'd say Opera attracts a pretty bad bunch of people. It may be a little worse at Opera, but seriously, every event I've been to whether it be Opera, Swerve, or wherever, there's either some doped up druggies, posers or stuck up preps. IMO clubs in general attract quite a few of these less than desirable types. If everyone that goes were more like all of us, the world would be a better place, but that just sadly isn;t the case. I don't find it a bad venue at all, but then again, I'm not well versed in sound systems and all that. My only complaint, and one I've voiced before, is the booth being over everyones head. I just think it's better when the dj is closer to the audience. Even though I've been a defender of Opera, I too wish it was at Swerve, but I think it will still be a great time.

- High-heavy, yet very quiet sound
- No seating
- Half of the club is VIP, leaving people who don't pay an extra $20 cramped
- Abusive staff (There is a thread on lunar about a guy who got hit in the face with a flashlight and spending the night in jail for telling the bouncer they gave his girlfriend the wrong VIP wristband.

It's basically the worst excuse for a venue I've seen

haha funny. Specially the 20 bucks for vip.

I like to experience Prydz and Opera before I pass my eternal judgement.

Posted by trancension on Sep-11-2008 23:56:

I wish it was a bit dimmer at Opera and that the sound system was revamped.

I ignore the crowds when I go clubbing.

You're always going to have the douchebag clubbers who will ruin the night for you if you let them.

But all in all, I do enjoy Opera more than 1150. I don't like how they raised the DJ Booth 8 feet, but they did open up the dance floor more. Which is a lot nicer. But unfortunately they do sell over capacity for people like Tiesto/Armin/PvD so it's ridiculously cramped.

Posted by vanditpandit on Sep-13-2008 13:09:

aint gonna miss prydz this time!!!! havent been to opera before ... i hope its like 1150!!!

Posted by ZeeRobot1 on Sep-13-2008 13:15:
